Did the Obama or Bush administrations ever care about human rights abuses by their allies?

And there is no evidence that the Assad government was responsible for the chemical attack. This has nothing to do with human rights - they just want an excuse to get rid of Assad to further destabilize and weaken Syria.

Furthermore, supporting the other side looks pretty much like supporting various factions of Al Qaeda and nobody in their right mind would support that.

I am 100% against getting involved as quite simply, we have no idea what we are playing with. All this evidence John Kerry is talking about is something that still isn't released to us, and in this day and age, we know the Americans will doctor anything to go to war.
I voted yes. But after looking at the question more carefully, I have to say that I do not support the rebels BUT I DO support the removal of Assad.

I think a mini-intervention that takes CIA and special marines forces to just topple and decapitate the regime would do fine now.

Let's face it: Syria doesn't have a government. Nothing is working properly. It will be prolonged with casualties for innocent people in and in the neighbour countries of Syria.

It's clear that Assad can't finish off the rebels and it is also clear that the rebels can't finish off Assad.

One swift swoop can end, at least, one side of the belligerents- which is what I certainly want.

But I think it is clear that Assad is the one who has to go.

The red line for me and any sane thinking person was the chemical attacks and WMD's. It's 2013 man, you can't be doing that!!!

Well, Obama has the OK. How does this sit with the Obama is the second coming crowd. More of the same. Ha, people crying at his first inauguration, what a joke. Reset foreign policy, bullshit.

Whatever my feelings about Syria, I am of the belief that this country should be governed by the people. Although the poll here is very small I think it does reflect how America feels. If the majority of the people are against this Syria action, I feel it should not happen, unfortunately, we are not a democracy, we are a republic. We have a Representative Democracy. Good old Ben Franklin stated we have such to protect the Rebublic from the Tyranny of the majority. PS, I should say the way has been cleared for Obama to receive the OK, still needs to go to full vote

Obama has shown himself to be completely unhinged and he is pushing America into another Cuba. Once he himself crosses the line, there is no going back, and America will look like one very isolated and lonely country. Nobody supports Obama and getting the support of Congress, who are the most corrupt and easily bribed of politicians, is no reflection of international support or domestic tax payer opinion. Obama talks of red lines, but it is he himself who is once AGAIN crossing the line. Obama speaks of 98% of the world being against the use of chemical weapons. Well, that must mean he cares about international law and yet he regularly flaunts his own constitution and international law. Where is the media to question him on his hypocrisy and totally flawed logic? He is clearly quite deranged and should step down and take a long rest.

I've gone over this like a thousand times you thick bastard. The invasion of Iraq was due to the fact we did not oust him during the Persian Gulf War. Invading Iraq was correcting a mistake which was made ever more difficult by the mistake of disbanding their entire military which was stupid.

Also again you bring up race when I have said 0 about race. I disagree with the current President on POLICY....read that you dumb cunt...POLICY not on skin color. Bring it up again shithead and we'll see where this goes
Calm down, double cousin. If you want to say that you're not obsessed with Obama or exercised and enervated by racial issues in general then I'm fine with that.

And it seems you do think invading Iraq was a good idea!

What did people think about Vladimir Putin's op-ed on Syria? And what do people think about how the situation over there seems to be working out?

I think Putin has been masturbating to thoughts of something like this happening for years. Obama fell into it. Right after the Snowden mess. Ain't it just too funny the way shit happens. Obama should have just launched a few tomahawks and said "what now bitch" instead he hired Putin to be Kissenger.
