Conor McGregor launched a scathing attack on Nate Diaz and confirmed that there will be another fight between the two as it is one apiece at the moment. The reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) men's lightweight champion rained down abuses on his biggest rival after he teamed up with Floyd Mayweather to have a laugh at McGregor's expense in December last year.
The Dublin-born MMA fighter has been calling out the now retired five-division undefeated boxing champion for a big money fight following his victory over Eddie Alvarez and was recently granted a license to box in the state of California. The duo have been going back and forth in a verbal war that has lasted months, and Mayweather took it up a notch when he involved Diaz during a live web chat with his fans.
"Nate's a b***h. Nate's a f*****g b***h, and let me tell you why," McGregor said. "I had the biggest respect for Nate – and I still have big respect for Nick, he's out doing his thing – but when [Nate] took that phone call or that video call from Floyd Mayweather, and was like, 'hello Floyd's fans,' he was Floyd's b***h that night. I was like, you f*****g p***y. You absolute p***y," McGregor was quoted as saying by MMAfighting.com
"When he had that video call, he should've been on the other end of that line, and when Floyd was saying 'you made McGregor tapout,' he's like, 'yeah I did,' and Floyd is saying, 'I'm going to finish the job' — he should've said, 'shut your f*****g mouth or I'll strangle you too,' and then post that everywhere. And then all of a sudden, it would've been like, f**k Floyd. It would've be me and Nate again. But he was Floyd's b***h that night. He was Floyd's employee that night. So look, f**k Nate. F**k Nick. F**k the Diaz Brothers. And if you want to be down with the Diaz Brothers, then f**k you too."
The McGregor-Diaz rivalry came to the fore in 2016 with them fighting on two occasions at UFC 196, when Diaz made the Irishman tap out, but the reigning lightweight champion got his revenge when he even the score by triumphing at UFC 202. Their showdowns shattered records and was the highest earning pay-per-view in UFC history.
Despite the former and first two-weight UFC title holder admitting that he has lost respect for Diaz following his stunt with Mayweather, he has promised a third bout in the near future, possibly for the lightweight title.
"Look, he took a hell of a lot of smacks that night (at UFC 202). His face droops to the left. Look at him. Look real close at him. His face droops to the left now. You don't take them left hammers all for 25 minutes and come back normal. He was not normal in that phone call," the Irishman said about their fight last August.
"I was expecting a different situation, but I couldn't believe it when I watched it. I watched like 10 minutes of it, and Floyd's like, 'hey Nate, say hello to my fans.' You f*****g b***h. It's the biggest b***h move I've ever seen. So whatever, it is what it is. Now you're back in the queue. Now you're at the back of the queue.
"Don't get me wrong, me and Nate will throw down again, 100 percent. It's one apiece. We'll finish it off. I'd imagine it will be for the lightweight world title, 155. It could be like a skeleton wrapped in cling film. If his team is wise, they'll talk him out of it. They'll say, 'you've made some money, your face is drooping to the left, your speech is slurred. Chill now. Enjoy the money.' But they're not the most intelligent people, so I'm sure me and Nate will go again," McGregor explained.

Smoke without fire? The rumblings of Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor have gathered pace. Sky Sports have asked some of boxing’s most powerful figures if this proposed fight is good for their beloved sport…
You can almost imagine Conor McGregor, the UFC champion, angrily pacing the streets of Las Vegas in his snakeskin loafers - 'Where's Floyd? Where's Floyd?'
Alas, it is not so simple to pick a fight, even if you stand undisputed at the pinnacle of your sport as both McGregor and his would-be dance partner Floyd Mayweather proudly do. Their tit for tat started as a tired debate - boxing vs MMA - but has flourished into one of sport's most compelling stories. But should the boxing world be excited or embarrassed by the idea of Mayweather vs McGregor?
"It makes such little sense on one side, but so much sense on the other side," Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn exclusively told Sky Sports. "To the man on the street, the non-educated boxing fan, it's the best fighter in the world against the best mixed martial arts guy in the world.
"To the educated boxing fan, it's a complete disaster. It's terrible, just terrible. But if they need a promoter, I'm here to do it."
And therein lies the intrigue, for most of us. It's theatre, but who doesn't enjoy pantomime season? For every lover of boxing, with all its quirks and imperfections, we also have those hardened by their old-school views. For those, the barefoot McGregor even speaking Mayweather's name is blasphemy.
"It would be irrelevant for the sport of boxing," scorned Lou DiBella, the New York-based promoter. "It's not a true, classic boxing match. It's more of an entertainment event, and a spectacle.
"I think the reason [UFC president] will make absolutely sure that it doesn't happen is because Floyd smacking McGregor all over the ring would be good for boxing, and bad for MMA.
"Let's face reality - Conor is a massive star in UFC. If Floyd smacks McGregor all over the ring (which is my best guess as to what would happen) that doesn't hurt boxing."
Mayweather's long-awaited clash with Manny Pacquiao in 2015 certainly didn't hurt boxing either, finally scratching an itch that was six years in the making. Instrumental in bringing the richest fight of all time into the ring was Stephen Espinoza, the Showtime boss, so it is intriguing that he believes Mayweather could break his own record alongside McGregor.
"Pure boxing against MMA is destined to happen because of the natural rivalry," Espinoza exclusively told Sky Sports.
"It is [good for boxing]. It is a match-up which fans are interested in, and answers a question which MMA was borne out of."
Back to McGregor prowling up and down the Vegas Strip, maniacally cackling at every mention of Mayweather's name, or so we imagine. Agreeing a fight of any magnitude, let alone an occasion that could break world records, cannot just rely on challenges issued via social media. It requires give and take, paperwork and complicated contracts.
"One of the interesting points about this fight is the internal dynamic of the UFC contract," points out Hearn, keeping a close eye on developments from this side of the pond.
"Whether McGregor is allowed to take this fight with or without the UFC's blessing. This goes beyond Dana White.
"McGregor is not as big as the UFC brand but he's certainly on his way. They need him in the UFC and I'm not sure what benefit the Mayweather fight brings to the UFC, unless it's somehow part of the UFC schedule, which would bring its own problems into negotiations.
"I wouldn't be keen, if I were in charge of the UFC, to let him move out of the circle and into a fight that he can't win."
Espinoza, whose feather in the cap justly remains his role in Mayweather-Pacquiao, believes the cheque books may take another battering with McGregor and his contractual obligation to the UFC involved.
"It would take an unprecedented deal to make this happen," said the Showtime boss. "We've seen unprecedented deals that allowed mega-fights to happen before.
"It's an uphill battle, simply because it's never been done before. But we have two potential combatants who are interested and motivated in making it happen, plus tens of millions of people around the world who are eagerly anticipating the match.
Contract wrangling is guaranteed to extend beyond just the two fighters and their respective entourages - television deals and locations are just two obvious examples of parties that must be appeased, and agreed.
McGregor owns a boxing licence in California (which he has never used) but does not in Nevada (where Mayweather has exclusively boxed for 12 years). The plot thickens - this week, McGregor was summoned before the Nevada commission for indiscretions dating back to a UFC press conference last summer, so relations are not friendly.
One day, the boxing world will collectively wake up from this fantasy and wonder how it happened. But will Mayweather and McGregor have fought in the ring, or just on the Internet?

A potential boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will not go the distance, according to the latter's training partner Artem Lobov.
Mayweather Jr and McGregor have been in discussions for a big money super fight for a while now, with the latest development being that talks are going nowhere, according to UFC president Dana White.
If the fight does take place, the general consensus in the combat world is that McGregor would lose to the undefeated Mayweather, due to his inexperience in boxing and the latter's expertise in the sport.
However, Lobov – who fights in the UFC featherweight division – believes his SBG teammate would finish the bout early, whether it's a fight with Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.
"Being honest, and I know I'm going to get a lot of hate from it, but I don't see Mayweather making it past the sixth round," Lobov said as quoted on MMAFighting. "And if it was [Manny] Pacquiao, I don't see Pacquiao making it past two rounds."
Lobov, who will face Cub Swanson at UFC Fight Night 108, defended his prediction by citing the time he predicted McGregor would stop former featherweight champion Jose Aldo in a minute.
"And look, I was the one that predicted the one minute against Aldo," Lobov added. "There is an interview of me, I can't find it now, but there is a video of me where Conor keeps talking about four minutes, saying around the four-minute mark he was going to stop Aldo, and me saying, 'no, forget the four minutes. It doesn't get out of the first minute,' and sure enough it was."
"I'm sure I got a lot of hate for that too, but trust me I know something. I've sparred this man for a very long time and I've watched this game for a many, many years and I understand a thing or two."
Lobov hopes that the fight eventually happens as he believes the Irishman is ready but is unsure if Mayweather wants the fight.
"I certainly hope it will happen," he explained. "I mean, we're ready, we're getting ready for that fight, make no mistake about it, Conor is ready to go, he's a loaded weapon.
"Whenever Mayweather wants to sign on that dotted line, we're good to go because Mayweather, he's a big man for talking but whether he actually wants the fight, I don't know."

Nate Diaz believes longtime rival Conor McGregor has a chance, albeit a slim one, against Floyd Mayweather if they ever lock horns in a boxing match.
The Irishman has been petitioning for a boxing super fight with Mayweather ever since winning the lightweight title at UFC 205, an interest later reciprocated by the five-weight boxing champion.
Many within the MMA community, including fighters, however, believe the inexperienced McGregor has no chance against a seasoned and undefeated boxing legend in Mayweather.
With the fight being on and off, Diaz is of the belief that the whole super fight idea is a publicity stunt but did admit that McGregor has a chance if the bout ever comes to fruition.
"I think it's a publicity stunt, but my take on a boxing match between the two, I think McGregor is good and he's got a good chance of making something happen in (the first) two, three rounds," Diaz said on Andre Ward's Comcast Sports Net show, "If anything, two or three rounds.
"He's got an amateur style. Good movement, good punches for six, eight minutes, but that's too amateur for Mayweather. I'm just saying he's got a puncher's chance if anything."
Diaz, who has been in the octagon with McGregor longer than any other fighter, was on the receiving end of McGregor's deadly left hand, getting busted open in both their fights. However, the Stockton native also believes that the 28-year-old's amateur style could lead to his downfall.
"But as far as skill and technique, he's got an amateur style," Diaz added. "Anybody can be good for nine, six or seven minutes... anybody. And they all have that puncher's chance."
"But this guy [Mayweather] is ready to go round after round and he's going to be a hard person to get a hold of. I think it's going to be a rough one."
Diaz is not the only UFC fighter who thinks McGregor has a chance as Artem Lobov believes Mayweather would not make it past the sixth round against the Irishman.
