    well i didnt know how much he got payed but surely there were other big fights other than rematching a guy you blew away in 1 calzaghe was good in eubank fight i never said he wasnt but eubank only had very short time to get himself in shape and was weight drained and was shot you gotta take that into account aswell

    Forget the Eubank win he had to lose 11lbs in a week he was meant to be fighting at lightheavy on undercard and ok he beat Eubank but he's had 19 fights since then and has'nt done a deal to make us think god he's great

    agreed i mean i like calzaghe but these people are making excuses for him and people honestly trying to say that being champion for what is it 9 years and making 19 defences that he has had only one big fight because all fighters have ducked him and priced them selfs out i dont buy that for second looks like fw is protecting calzaghe too much and it doesnt look like calzaghe is too eager to get big fights either

    Am i the only one that thinks Bernard & Calzaghe both wanted nothing to do with each other

    Don't even get me started on Roy I mean i like Roy but he knows exacly how to price himslef out of a fight.
    Even in 2007

    No wonder Bernard ended up taking paycheques of smaller men. :P

    One of the fights he could of had but did'nt that does my head in most is the Clinton Woods fight when he was talking about moving up to lightheavy he was gunna fight Woods before he was champ and pulled out then defended his WBO title.Woods then won the IBF title Joe says he wants the winner of Johnson v Woods Woods wins and Joe shuts up about the fight now Warren and Hobson said the fight could be made.But it never happend now loads of rival promoters and tv networks can work together so the fact they don't get on can't be the excuse it would have been a good fight for british boxing and i would fancy Woods to win why do we keep getting robbed

    Kessler doing more than Calzaghe ?

    How many fights has Kessler had since winning the world title ?

    Answer 4 fights in 3 years . How on earth is that doing more than Calzaghe .

    Andrade has fought NOT 1 NOT 1 NOT 1 NOT 1 EVEN FRINGE CONTENDER.

    10 ,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1.........AHH THATS BETTER .

    Bika and MM to say the least were and are Supermiddles and both can hit hard .

    As for Hopkins blowing away anyone .....bahahahahaha thats the funniest thing i've ever heard .

    He Bottled the fight with Calzaghe , FW went on the record and said as much ! For Hopkins to fight anyone remotely decent they have to be coming up in weight having preiously fought at Welter . Anytime he goes in with a decent fuly blown Middle .....

    Hopkins the luckiest oppurtunist ever .

    King Roy would have beat Calzaghe in his prime but who has ever blown away Joe C?

    Some of you should try backing words up with fact !!

    That takes some doing .

    i meant in opponents they faced that hopkins opponents are better ....

    no one has blown calzaghe away but thats due to him not facing any top fighters

    bika has 22 wins and 14 kos he is average puncher at best his 14 kos have come against average opponents or bums mm has decent ko record 23 wins 17 kos but look at opponents records he has faced there all bums most with losing records or guys with just over average records

    all risky fights

    hopkins may of not had as many risky fights but eastman trinidad and oscar are twice as good as calzaghe opponents shame calzaghe wernt born few years later he would of been in era of benn eubank collins

    but i will say this calzaghe was bit unlucky aswell to be fair i mean he offered hopkins fight and he priced himself out and then he was going to fight steve collins and he pulled out due to injury

    Mate I am work at the moment - but you will get my full response to this later - coz James Toney (for RJJ) is the only genuine risk you have given for either fighter imo - for various reasons!

    My point was that Joe C with a few exceptions has fought big men with power .

    MM is a big hitter won the European Championship in France against world ranked Jackson Chanet .

    All i'm trying to emphasise is what the bare facts tell me .

    Hopkins fought mainly guys moving up in weight who he had massive physical advantages over .

    I'm the 1st to admit Joe has fought plenty of Carthorses but he more often than not blew them away !

    Hopkins made hard work of alot pretty average fighters .

    Mittchell
    Brewer
    Shieka
    LACY
    Ried
    Eubank
    Woodall

    these fighters were all former champions ( Shieka exception ). All with the possible exception of Woodall i'd call punchers Joe did numbers ( Ried exception ) on all these guys .

    I have never ever been impressed with Hopkins he didnt want anything to do with Joe Calzaghe that is cold hard fact.

    Joe answered all he needed to answer with the display over Lacy .

    I thought Robin Reid beat him and so did some sports writers and he would'nt fight him again
