No i dont need boxrec mate i watched them live Rick Thornberry,David Starie,Charles Brewer,Miguel Angel Jimenez,Kabary Salem,Evans Ashira and the tough Sakio Bika all these fighters are lesser fighters than Woods and Calzaghe could'nt stop these for whatever reason im not interested he just could'nt.He could well beat Woods im not denying that but stop him in the same way Roy Jones did in 6 rounds never.Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
Bika is hard mother f***** to knock out and is a dirty fighter to deal with a lot of the time.
especially when you have to fight 9 rounds with a broken hand.Originally Posted by Mr140

CC ono just because a guy might be better does not mean he can not be stoped Bika might be lower class then Woods but he never been stopped.
I always thought the Woods stoppage to Jones was a little early, sure he was taking a beating & it might have only gone a couple more rounds but it was not like Woods was dramatically knocked outOriginally Posted by TYSONBRUNO

The problem was that Woods pretty much stopped throwing punchesOriginally Posted by Galaxy.
I agree but I think it was more Jones' dominance rather than Woods being in trouble which lead to the stoppageOriginally Posted by Violent Demise

Well Woods pretty much stopped throwing punches cuz he was getting his ass kicked. He was hurt. And I don't consider it an early stoppageOriginally Posted by Galaxy.
Sweet as you don't have too but I do, Woods was still on his feet! As I stated before he was taking a beating but he wasn't out! I've seen other fights go longer when a guy is completely out on his feet! They pulled him out so he could fight another day... like the Earl/ Katsidis fight!Originally Posted by Violent Demise

Woods took 22 unanswered punches that last right hand was brutal definetly a right stoppage yes Woods could of gone on but was it worth it really ?? he could of been seriously hurt.
You said it yourself Woods could have gone on & no I don't think it was worth it, but because Jones stopped him does not give any indication that Calzaghe would do the same. Calzaghe would be the smaller man, he does not hit anywhere nears as Jones did at 175 & Woods has improved a great deal since his lost to Jones. All which gives me reason to believe Woods would survive in a losing effort to the end!Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING

Like hopkins said, it he knows what its like to make 20 defenses, and how hard it is to get up for them all... loads of greats have gone through bad patchs, gone 12 with fighters they should sto, why? beating nobodys gets borring, you can't fight world class fighters week in week out - woods would be a threat, or considered one, it would be a heated fight, one calzaghe would for sure be up for... i would pick calzaghe at this point of his career to finish him in 10.Originally Posted by TYSONBRUNO
Woods doesn't hit really hard and is as easy toh it as any champion can be.
Ooooh! I jsut found this thread, and I totally haven't been paying attention but I did read Woods' comments about the fight, and I have to say this is a fight that would be pretty much ideal for Joe Calzaghe as a build-up fight to the Hopkins match up next summer.
1) Calzaghe wins and he's a two-weight world champion.
2) He wins, then his bout with Hopkins is a clash of two light-heavyweight world champions.
3) Woods gets to make a lot of money, and if he wins it would significantly boost his flagging career.
4) A springtime fight would be ideal for Calzaghe time-wise to let him have time to prepare for the summer super-fight.
As for Woods, he did do enough to beat Johnson in their last time out in my opinion, just, and although he's not been in big-name fights since, his IBF belt still carries some kudos, and I think it would have benefits for both fighters.
