Joshua looks pretty good, great physicality and some skills, even though he's in with a total can. They should have just taken the gamble and put him in Prizefighter, I bet he'd have won.

Most pleasing development is that they didn't call him the future peoples champion.

This was even worse than could have been expected. Sprott could get fed to Anthony Joshua in a few months time or something I guess, must be what they are lining up.

Could be given to Price as a comeback fight?

Yea for sure that makes sense, would be a better payday for Sprott to probably. Thought since Joshua fought on the same event they might give him the winner, maybe that's partly why they made sure not to get anyone good on the lineup.

Yeah, they didn't fight though. Toney lost to Gavern in the semi, it could've gone either way I guess but he was getting knocked around and his right hand looks comical these days. His balance is just terrible, he'd never beat anyone who can stay upright behind a jab anymore.

Fuck. Wasn't Gavern one of Toney's ex-sparring partners? I seem to recall him beating him up in sparring and Gavern being on a Toney undercard. Could be wrong.

Poor Toney couldn't even win this Prizefighter. He's done. Been done. He was great.

Yup Gavern talked about that right after. He wouldn't even have been good sparring for James before a few years ago, hope Toney knows he can't fight anymore and made a bit of money today.

Actually, I was very impressed with Toney. The format was always going to be awkward for him, but he adjusted very well. He easily won the first fight and I actually think he won the second fight too. I think he looked really sharp and it was a significant difference to how he looked against Lucas Browne. He balance was actually a LOT better and his output noticeably improved. He was throwing combinations and he hasn't been doing that whilst clinically obese.

I don't think he needs to retire, I think he needs to stay busy and have a couple of ten rounders. The important thing is to keep this weight and stay in shape. A fight with Tarver after a couple more tune ups for instance would be quite fun.

If his balance looked better then I don't even want to know how bad it's been, last time I saw him was the Lebedev affair and while he didn't throw anything even then he looked better on his feet with a probable injury. He is all over the place every time he so much as blocks a punch or throws anything, he is practically knocking himself down out there. He would have absolutely no chance of beating anyone half decent over even 8 rounds today, and even Tarver may actually be the first man to stop Toney, which would be sad to see. He needs to retire badly, there is no such thing as a tune up for somebody in his condition.

Lebedev saw him injured in the second round or thereabout. Any normal fighter would have called it quits then. Imagine if Tyson had completed the fight against Danny Williams and of course Lebedev is far better than Danny Williams. Against Lucas Browne Toney hit the deck several times and fell very hard too. Just no coordination whatosever. Here, it really was quite good.

I was honestly, quite pleasantly surprised as I myself got quite angry after the Browne fight as I thought he gave it away by being bloated. I see this Toney as being quite sharp, but can he sustain it over ten rounds? I'm not sure, so I would like to see him try. He won his two Prizefighter fights IMO and could easily have taken it. Looking at forums most think Toney deserved to progress.

The journey isn't going to end here, Toney needs to be tested and either he can do it or he can't. Getting the weight down is checked, now he just needs to stay active.
