Default Donaire vs Arce on Dec.15 Most Likely

BREAKING NEWS: DONAIRE-ARCE A GO IN MEXICO ON DEC. 15

MANILA -- The highly anticipated showdown between 4-division champion Nonito Donaire Jr and Mexican star Jorge Arce is a go in Mexico City on Dec. 15, 2012. The deal will be finalized by Top Rank President Bob Arum on Monday. Donaire, who is currently in Manila to sit as one of the TV panelists for this evening's world championship battle between AJ Banal of the Philippines and Punglulang Sor Singyu of Thailand, had just successfully defended his WBO superbantam belt last week against long-time champion Toshiaki Nishioka of Japan in Carson, CA. The Mexican slugger Arce, according to reports, was not impressed by Donaire's performance and was quoted as saying he has the key to beat the speedster Donaire. More to come... (With reports from Ronnie Nathanielsz and Dong Secuya)

Looks like its finally gonna happen. I don't care how amazing Donaire is; I'm pulling for the upset of the century.

I would love the upset as well. But it ain't happening. This is a terrible match up. Arce will go out on his shield. And he'll go out early

Yep. Arce isn't exactly hard to hit and will walk into a massive left hook early doors.

Not to fond of the matchup since its a mismatch but props to arce for takin it and donaire for staying active, not many titlists boxers fight four times a year these days let alone legit champs.

Obvious mismatch, but it's really a no brainer for Donaire to take this fight. Arce is probably the biggest payday out there as well as virtually no threat and a chance to finally look like a monster again. The guy will just love to have somebody that wants to exchange again after his last few outings. And if it really happens in less than 2 months, hard to complain. All his best opponents are tied up anyways.

Arce's only golden chance is if Donaire's active year of fighting catches up to him in some way.

Arce looked shot 2 me against Darchiniyan and that was Arce of 3 yrs ago .
It was d only Arce fight that i watched , so IDK if he was shot or just sucked .
Arce vs Donaire in 2012 is a bad mismatch , but mismatches r d Donaire way .

I thought that Donaire was very good after his KO of Darchiniyan , but Darchiniyan was mightily drained against him , and a rematch did not occur during d following yrs .

Darchiniyan is 36 so Donaire may grant him a rematch at 37

Nonito said this is not a done deal. I'm still hoping its the Rigo fight instead in december, under the pac/jmm ppv. I want to see Nonito knock out boxings biggest pretender.

Not that it will help Arce win, but why would Donaire agree to fight Arce in Mexico City? Arce will get absolutely destroyed, pointless fight.

I am siding with VD on that one; Arce is exciting, comes to fight but he's not as fast as he once was and his defense is not that great neither (even as good). I could see the referee stopping that one around the 8th easily.

There is no need for this fight. It will be like Garcia/Morales. People should avoid it.

I think you are unfairly being critical of Donaire, he has beaten all the best available fighters and has not avoided anyone. Arce is an exciting fighter but this will be like watching Morales getting beat last weekend.
