    Default Scrap....

Yesterday I got to the gym about an hour before my trainer usually gets there, I spent nearly the whole time stretching. The first thing i did was take a 2 mile jog then i came back and did 3 rounds of hand pads, while i was on these hand pads i felt very lose and very fast even my brother was telling our coach that i looked quick. Ive been training for speed for about a month now because thats the only thing i lack on top of all the other things i do i feel that the stretching made a difference that was visible

Course it does... the more length you have to shorten during contraction the more force you will generate from excerting your muscles to the level

Done properly, after a good warm up it cant be beaten. But it takes 2 months, for tyings to really take off.If you do day training, Next day go for a light run, then strech after.now it takes over an hour to stretch the body properly, and its not easy.In fact its harder than training, well the one we do is.Its mostly isometric,Its a system I have worked on for a number of years. The results are pretty amazing.Anyway people have asked me to do a book and dvd of the stuff all combined theres about 8 hours of different stuff. To explain stretching or stretch is very hard to do.IT can do more harm than good. But their are books on the simple stuff, which are decent as an introduction to it.Go to a bookshop have a look see whats available. Most of the stuff you need is simple to stretch.EG broom handle, rubber band fit ball you can do a lot with these The benefits over time are great

Scrap, I forgot... is Isometric stretching where you use momentum to force the stretch, is it just a normal stretch or is it the type of stretch which involves using a person or object to force and hold the stretch?

I tryed it once, my mate's dad did it. The upper body moves are similar to boxing in a few ways.

Probably biased but according to him boxing is the best upper body form of combat and Taekwondo is the best lower body

Get a gym bench and large towel, make the into a 9 by 6 pad sit length ways on the bench, with knee over end put pad under knee.Foot by floor but not on, pull foot up so achilles is stretched then push down onto pad using hamstrings and gluts.Nowthroughtout you keep that form with a straight back Bring the foot up an inch every 10 secs until the leg is straight, When their hold for 20 secs. Then bring it down an inch every 10 secs.If the legs start to tremble keep correct form Do this 3 times on same leg.If you can youve got pretty good legs Then do the other leg When it becomes easy you start doing it with weighted shoes it strecthes the whole leg, have fun.

This is for power and speed strengthing the lower back and abdominal wall Sit downlegs straight heeels and knees pushed into floor.Back straight chin up,okay now think theirs somebody behind you ready to stick a red hot poker up your arse, thats the position you hold. Now go back 1 inch every 10 secs until your heels start to rise. Then come as you went down 1 inch every 10 secs, when vertical move feet width of shoulders, turn feet in then rock forward 4 times then lift feet with legs straight, off the floor6 inch then bang into the floor with heels. do the routine 4 times a workout. Do it every day for 2 week you will notice the differance, in speed and posture.
