There is nothing impressive in Eubank & Benns record's. Did they have great fights? Yes. But nothing other boxers have done. RJJ record on the other hand speaks for itself. I'm sure either Eubanks & Benn would have gotten a shot in their but nothing major. What other boxer you know can put both of his hands behind his back make you miss and counter punch your a$$ out. One thing I do question tho' is the opponent's he fought not top quality during his reign as the king.

Eubank used to do all of those showman things in his early career, way before Jones Jr used to do them.

At 160, or 168 Jones wouldn't have just outboxed both men, he would have knocked each guy out! Too bad when Jones became the man, neither Benn, nor Eubank would leave Europe to fight, Benn wouldn't even leave England!

Is RJJ the first boxer to have 7 titles in single division?

    WBC Light Heavyweight Title
    IBF Light Heavyweight Title
    WBA Light Heavyweight Title
    IBO Light Heavyweight Title
    WBF Light Heavyweight Title
    IBA Light Heavyweight Title
    NBA Light Heavyweight Title

I would say so, but I don't put any stock in the alphabet titles...hell, Eubank never was a legit champion!

Not fair to make a comparison really. Â Benn career were way shorter than RJJ's or Eubanks. Â It depends on what point in their careers and did Benn ever really reach his full potential? Â Would that have been good enough to beat Jones at his best? Â We know it only produced a loss and a draw to Eubanks.
Some of you have probably read this but this suggests RJJ Â style was impacted by the Benn/McClellan debacle. Â Not sure before then but after that fight took place (which is again an unfair comparison because Benn wasn't the same) Â RJJ would have outslicked Benn ala Michael Watson.

Eubanks...I don't know  I'd still lean toward RJJ but It wouldn't be the normal lopsided beatdown he usually delved out in his prime.

    Agreed.

RJJ can fight when he's ready.

RJJ without question, although I have a lot of respect for Eubank and Benn, I just don't believe there were on prime Roy's level.

OH wow, just realized this was made shortly after the Tarver and Johnson KO's.

I still remember that Tarver KO with disdain. Seeing it live I felt like it was the end of an era, the end of a truly special fighter.

It was shocking to see Roy knocked out like that. Tarver did have that great quote when the referee wanted to ask if there were any questions.

Yes it was a great time for Tarver. It's just a shame Roy had to lose to such a mediocre fighter. To see him out hustled by Glen Johnson right after and then completely embarrassed by Hopkins.

Glenn Johnson went on a good run after beating Jones, he went on to beat Tarver too.

Ah yes, I was a big fan of Glen's for sure. Very humble, hard worker. Road Warrior was a great name for him, he was on the wrong end of more than a few home town decisions.

But to be realistic, Johnson and Tarver were never even close to being in the same class as a prime Jones, so it was sad for me to see him losing to guys he would have obliterated 2-3 years previous IMO.
