    Default Little-known Songs from Yesteryear...

This one goes out to songs that weren't really big hits, but they had appeal for you as a listener. Everyone can name Thriller or Like A Virgin, but not everyone can name the lesser lights, and you never know what gems you might appreciate if someone points them out to you.

So here's to the songs that weren't megahits, but you liked'em and want to share them with others. I'll start off:

You Lose and You Gain---John Bottomley

This tune was a hit around 10-12 years ago. It's a solid tune, but few outside of Canada know it:

Yvonne, it says that video is no longer available.

There's a lot of British stuff that was lesser known in Canada (where I'm from) and the U.S. that was probably much more popular in GBR.

For example, Midge Ure and Ultravox weren't that well-known here, but they enjoyed a lot of success abroad. A-HA is another band that had one or two hits in Canada, but they are still going strong in their homeland, I think.

Andy Kim made it big with The Archies when they sang "Sugar Sugar", but his solo career was not nearly as successful, nor was his decision to change his name to Baron Longfellow, but this song was a really good song that never gets played anymore:

I have a few obscure favorites, only problem is they are so obscure they can't be found on the net.

This was one of my favorite songs as a kid. It actually did get some airplay back in the very early '70s, so some of the old farts may know this one.

I think Rory Gallagher (R.I.P.) is better known in Europe than North America and elsewhere. I might never have heard of him if I hadn't stumbled accross a film of him in a theatre in London in the '70s. As for the song, I guess it's obscure, unless you're a big fan. recorded 1971. The song has long been a favorite of mine.

As for the Dylan song, It's pretty obscure, unless you're a hardcore fan or an owner of The Bootleg Series Vol I. song recorded 1962

Surprising, CFH. You have a British Columbia provincial flag next to your Canadian flag, which makes me think you might be a B.C. boy. John Bottomley is from B.C.

Yeah, lived here for the vast majority of my life and I've never heard of him.
