..... in response to Brock's comment about Broner being a "silly monkey". Obviously a rebuke for Brock's use of the word "monkey" in reference to a black man, without bothering to consider what has already been pointed out. To err is human, and Greenbeanz is as human as the rest of us.

Gotta call a spade a spade.

I will say that 'silly monkey' is a term used in the UK quite innocuously too. Without hearing the tone you can't possibly know the intent. I used it at work a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was to a black colleague. Luckily being in the room with me they knew the tone and intent and racism wasn't even considered (except in my head when I winced a bit when I said it). I say it to white people fairly often.

I'm pretty sure Brock didn't say that in a racist way, Beanz. "Silly monkey" is a pretty established phrase with no racist intent... you can Google it if you'd like. Seems like a matter of American vs. UK slang. The term "monkey" can certainly be used with racist intent... but that one phrase is fairly harmless.
Unless you're black! I will say I've called all my children and grandkids a monkey at one time or another, but never an adult.
I'm not that upset because I think Broner is a racist turd himself. What goes around comes around.

    @ryanman

You understand. I just think ANYBODY whether Chinese, African, Peruvian, Italian, Yemeni, Korean, Venezuelan, Eskimo, etc. can be compaed to ANY animal, vegetable, or mineral.

Broner may indeed have a cock when fully erect that is double mine.

I used the word 'nigger' on a regular basis for years when in the company of my black American, black Puerto Rican and Dominican, Haitian, Guyanese, and West African friends of mine--- and they would refer to me as a " greaseball", a "wopp", a "daygo", etc. We laughed our asses off. And I and they never took any offense whatsoever to it.

Different environments. Like you said, different contexts and intended meanings.

Its not cut and dry like some wish it to be.

I did mean Tito with the dong (playfully teasing you for your compliments).

I'm sure (for sure read 'certain') that Beanz knows that too. But he will make his own judgement as to intent.

    Conceit, self-important, egotism, pomposity, informalbig-headedness, sincere-delusion.

    Culminating into two words.

    Unjustifiable hubris.

I cant believe I went to bat for this guy and gave him a pass for some of his crap. Physical gifts galore but a vacant cranium. Seems to operate on spinal fluid.

If you have already called someone a chimp, then to call someone a silly monkey is not really going to appear that innocuous. From anyone else maybe but when someone has a history of saying provocative things in order to garner attention and pretty much flat out trolls certain posters and then @mentions a gang of people to back them up, it is not quite the same.

Once again we have a slight slip, this case in the form of "throwing stones while having a glass house." Not picking on you, Beanz.... but I could (but won't) dredge up countless instances where you did exactly this. It's annoying being on the receiving end of that, isn't it?

I think someone else said it best. You don't personally know Brock well enough to accuse him of being racist. He's obviously well-traveled, which as someone also said tends to discourage or minimize racism. Could it be you still harbor some ill feelings toward the man, and thus are extra touchy about anything he utters? Not a huge sin if you do. Just makes you the kind of person who holds a grudge. Just a thought.
