Default The Truth vs. Alex Jones

So just happened to channel surf into this new documentary. Didn't watch all of it, as it was late and I went to bed about halfway through. But...

I just can't get my head around people like Alex Jones and the following they collect. Over 10 years later, and it's still hard to believe. The capacity some people have of turning any damn thing into a conspiracy theory is astounding. Nothing is true... nothing is real... nothing can be believed... everything needs to be doubted. What a sad, fucking existence. Kinda makes you shake your head at some of the deep running sickness in today's society. So basically to believe anything in the news today is to be a sheep. Damn... Personally, I find it amazing that one of those fathers never beat Jones into a pulp, probably earning a jail sentence himself. To profit off another one's grief is just sick. But Alex Jones is hardly alone. He's just one of the loudest. Apparently he's been doing this type of shit for awhile, and earning quite a following. It's not even these guys themselves. It's all the followers who are willingly led by the nose on whatever wild fantasy these fuckers dream up.

    Sick world out there...

We do not know much about him over here but he does seem a despicable man who would go anywhere to make noise and therefore money.

Very sick person and the people they attract are equally as crazy sheep which is ironic since they claim people that follow the mainstream media are.

Reminds me a lot of Trump supporters.

You're better off not knowing much about him. He's the type of person who loves to profit off other people's misery... the worst type of person. Yes, despicable is a pretty good description.

Also, yes... his blind fans accuse others of being sheep, which is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Over the last decade or so there has been a big uptick in people becoming and acting as tail tucked followers. Cult(s) of personality, politicians and gonzo tin foil hat wearing kooks generating fevered followings that were once reserved for music and sports stars. And once again as with other shouting figures, it's the over exposure and 24-7 availability that nurtures their brand. At least with a rock show you actually had to buy a ticket and become a groupie. Now it's as easy as sitting on the toilet...appropriately enough...to nod along with ol Alex and feel as though you are keen on something, aware of the real story that others just don't "get". We really have collectively thrown out the independence and satisfaction of thinking for ourselves.

My most elitist arrogant condescending opinion is also my most true, accurate and factual one. And it's this:

Back in the day there were three national tv networks and they broadcast very straight moderate news broadcasts that went out of their way not to inflame or aggravate the culture war fault lines in society. Regional newspapers got their national news from the Times and the Post and it was likewise dry and factual. And this was good. It kept the culture war out of politics as much as could possibly be done and didn't have any competition from other news sources. People like Alex Jones were reduced to handing out mimeographed flyers on street corners and sending chain letters.

These days every idiot has his own streaming show on the internet. The advent of talk radio and then Fox News allowed the culture war to explode and dominate national news. Then the internet came along and allowed the world's idiots to get connected. People like Alex Jones went from mimeographed flyers warning about flouride and imminent race wars to making millions of dollars a week from big audiences of these people. And where Murdoch thought he could just make money amping up the culture war to help get his favourite polliticians elected and tell the Republican base what to think the base have turned the tables and now tell Murdoch what to think, at least on his news channel. When he tried to dump Trump and had his channel admit he'd lost the election the base switched to Newsmax and he had to do an about turn and claim Trump won. The base sets the conservative news agenda these days and they lost touch with reality long ago. Danger ahead.

And it's wrecking America. I was thinking it was affecting America more than elsewhere and this was confirmed last week by this guy. Long story short a Brit Hume type who was editor of the Times in England, the most prestigious newspaper there, for a long time and various other top jobs all for Rupert Murdoch, owner of the Times, Fox News and so on. Watch at least the first thirty seconds:

The people behind this news channel have spent ninety million on it in a couple of years and are planning to keep funding it. Even in 2024 that's a lot of money. But they're not getting an audience.

So the massive level of crazy seems to be an American phenomenon. And it's wrecking the country. You need to shut the internet down and go back to three news channels or it's going to cost you.

Nah, let it go the way it goes. Doom and gloom outlooks like yours are alarmist as Jones is.
