That's the main event? I would have assumed it would be sharing another bill, not really much of a fight in itself. Good for Joshua to be fighting a guy who should go 12 and is sound defensively, but that's about all this is.

Shit card I agree and it should be a decent test but I think AJ will bang him out inside the distance if he does then we do have a potential title holder coming through, Johnson isn't exactly a big hitter which is def what AJ needs after this or at least someone to hit him back hard.
Be interesting to see how many he can pull into the O2 arena... end of January when cash can be tight for most people and a poor undercard :/
Its a good test anyway and I'm curious to see if his punches are as destructive as I hope

I disagree. This is a decent card imo. I think Johnson gets blasted out early which will add hype to the AJ train. Estrada v Mitchell is a very good fight. Estrada gave Figueroa hell for the 1st 6 rounds and I dont think if he does that to Mitchell he could stop him early. The rumour is Ryder is fighting Heiland who just beat Macklin and given their styles that could be a war. The other fights arent big names but the majority are fun fighters so all in all I see this as an entertaining card. Its not like its PPV or anything.

That's a better card so far than what they served up last Saturday.

Every fight was ridiculously lobsided bar the main event. I rarely get excited about a fight where the fav is shorter than 10s on

So nearly 8000 tickets already sold and the first press conference tom.

Hearn seems to want to get AJ in their with Fury in 2015 and he's mentioned it in several interviews so far this week.

Makes financial sense all day long and will happen I'm sure.

Just read this article from Steve Bunce. He's basically calling Eddie/Matchroom a cunt for making this match. Clearly thinks it's much too soon and a stupid risk to take.

Johnson, who lost his WBC title bout with Vitali Klitschko on points in 2009, is arguably the best heavyweight in the last 25 years never to have won a world heavyweight title and there is some good competition.

im not sure i agree with that

Johnson is proper pie and mash, he'll definitely give it to Joshua in the build-up, which will be more interesting than the actual fight. Everyone else who Joshua has fought has been all nicey-nicey.

Arguably is such a weasel word when it comes to writing. It gives the writer a huge amount of leeway in terms of being able to back up what they say. Arguably, Anthony Joshua is already showing signs that he is better than Klitschko. The fact is, you can argue just about anything, and picking and choosing stats is easy. I could ignore the level of opponent and argue that Joshua is knocking out everyone in his path while Klitschko is having a much more difficult time with his opponents.

In fact, I am arguably the best super flyweight boxer never to have fought in the super flyweight division.

Anyhow, another step in the right direction for Joshua, and Johnson is another rung on the ladder that he will need to get past. I don't see any evidence in recent fights that Johnson can really trouble him, but he may stick around for longer than some of Joshua's opponents.
