Kessler's people have said as recently as TODAY that they're ready to fight Calzaghe whenever, and that they're even willing to do it in Wales. Next point?
Right, which FW obviously knew before extending this bogus "offer." FW's "offer" also would require Taylor to come to Wales for the fight, but would only give Taylor $4M--which he already makes fighting lesser fighters in the U.S. This "offer" was a sham, and was made precisely so that people like you would say "Well, Joe offered Taylor $4M to fight, and Taylor didn't take it--so Joe's obviously not dodging him, and it's fine for him to fight someone like Froche."
So the winner of Kessler/Calzaghe would be pefrectly timed to fight the winner of this fight. Sounds great to me.
re the "mandatory" point - this doesn't hold up. Joe's already dropped titles to avoid mandatories. And at this stage in his career it's not the bullshit WBO strap he's got that are selling his fights or making his name. He's recognized (for now) as the World Champion, with or without this illegitimate alphabet strap.
No, he already did that for his last fight, LOL. Froche is crap anyway, really. The SMW division is incredibly thin. Kessler is the only other decent fighter there. Even fighting Mundine--though much better than Froche--would be a letdown.
