Default Big news for British Boxing.....October 2008

Terry Dunstan is returning to the ring this October!

I met Terry in Sheffield and I trained with him in the gym for a bit. I had never seen him box apart from his one punch KO of Gurov. I really liked Terry when I met him. He was a genuinely nice guy, a laugh a minute and this was partially why I became really interested in him. (The other reason was his sheer athleticism and natural boxing skill!) Training with Terry was class, he's really focused and being around him makes you train harder yourself!

So I looked Terry up over the net. I quickly established that in the past Terry has been slated in numerous newspapaers.
Notably this was never in relation to his boxing.
I was actually a little upset by what I read, Terry was not portrayed as the guy I met and it solidified my poor opinion of the modern media.

On a subsequent meeting it was obvious that Terry was aware of the medias perception of him. Suprisingly he didn't seem perturbed, he just wants to box.
I'm definitely looking forward to his comeback, Terry is an excellent fighter and I can't wait to see what this highly motivated regeneration can do.

Trust me guys, he's one to watch

Sorry.. but a 40 year-old coming off a 9 year retirement is one to watch? Come on now, Dunstan was a good fighter, but it would be a massive surprise for anyone to achieve much after that layoff.

I thought he went to prison for attacking and robbing two women? If that's the case he did a pretty solid job of portraying himself in a bad light - he didn't need the media's help

Hello Fenster thanks for your comments, now let me put the record straight, Terry Dunstan did NOT attack any women no matter what you read in the papers then or online now. Slight bit of artistic license on behalf of the media and I have court papers to prove that.

Terry went to prison, he has done his time and came out of prison and kept his head down to think about his future and the impact of his possible return to the ring on his family and those closest to him. All of whom completly support his coming back.

He is aware that he did wrong but like I say he has been away and now is out and holds a BBBofC License to box professionaly.

Your right ! He is nearly 40 and yes he has been away from the game for a fair old time now but time can sometimes stand still or not move too much anyway and in Terrys case it hasnt and thank god for that !!

You will find a clip of him sparring on his facebook page one recent and one from 1995 I think....Let us all know what you think.

Terry Dunstan was a great fighter with a huge future ahead of him, he screwed up but is going to give 200% of himself in his quest to put things right in the ring at least. I hope true boxing fans, like yourself, will support him.

Thanks again for your post Fenster

Fenster, he moves as well as he did 10 years ago.
I saw him sparring heavies and just fooling around with them.
Check out the Cruiser division....I have no doubt he can put a dent in it.

I can't understand where the media came up with this cold Terry Dunstan idea, the guy is hilarious and a complete joker....he's nothing like whats been portrayed
