    Default Your defensive strategy

Just wondering what your technique or tips are towards defensive boxing. How to miss a punch, dodge, ect. Im lost when it comes to taking punches. Help or suggestions would be appreicated.

    Thanks.

i would tend to stand pretty slanted so that i was just but sideways. right hand at the chest level to parry and to draw jabs, left hand low to draw right hands. he either leads on me so i can counter, or i jab him and try to get him to counter. either way im trying to make him throw punches - and more to the point, trying to make him throw specific punches. this is typically how it goes but it gets more complicated in practice. its tricky trying to keep a guy under your thumb because you cant read minds. if you could you would be unbeatable i guess.

the main thing with defense is that you cannot consider it without also considering other variables. like say, what counterpunch corresponds, what is he trying to set up off of this, what can i set up from this later etc. nothing in boxing is isolated - they all interweave with each other to make up the whole.

I tend to keep my posture and gaurd tight...
always keep my right hand close to my chin.. unless throwing of course..
keep it simple and effective until i see openings..
feint.. do this by moving a hand or stepping forward witht the left leg without throwing..
paw with a jab.. throw jabs keep throwing.. throw two or three at a time ... move hte head from time to time...
they'r bound to throw a shot or two.. jus keep watching..
moving.. keep the head moving, catch a couple of jabs on the glove or parry the jabs..
i usually shoot a couple of jabs after a parry or i'll parry and turn in to my left and throw first to the body.. then to the head...
i like to pace myself.. keep my technique simple and efective and watch for opportunity's..
    never leave myself open intentionally..
jus take it easy and think when your in there and watch what they do.. take advantage of what you see.
and meanwhile... throw the jab out there keep the gaurd up and head moving and you'll be orite!
    Peace

I tend on here not to get in to technique issues, simply because I dont know whom Im talking to or the pluses and minuses of the Boxer. what you need is your own Genius to work it out with a coach. Genius awonderfull thing to have but people in the past have laugthed at it. peple laughed at Einstein they thought he was mad they thought Ali was mad, they thought Galilao was mad they thought Albert Higgenbottom was mad, do your thing

I jump up in the air as high as I can. With a 50" vertical leap, nobody can hit me. I also turn around and run a lot. I'm fast so I'm hard to hit.
