Default I just took out my sink

I’m starting a new series of useless threads so I can come here and read shit other than covid and trump. I took out my sink, the plumbing for said sink and some electrical. Tomorrow morning I’m getting new counters and a new sink so I’m ripping out as much as I can tonight. Just finished it’s 8:30pm. I also ordered a seiko presage watch. We got covid hazard pay back until December so I figured wtf might as well pick something up. I wanted to have miles buy me a North Korean made watch for my collection if he could get them but some mods with a tude banned him and blew my shot at it

I can barely change a washer on a tap so you guys are very good handymen.

You would be surprised master. I used to think like that and it held me back from trying. If you just take the time to look at things you can see how they go together. I think you are like me and that other member here who are landlords. It helps if you can run into a place and take care of an issue on your own. Not only the money but the whole time factor of setting up someone to come over that is good for three different parties. I certainly can’t do everything. But for years I had it in my head I was no good with a wrench. Turns out I can figure most things out. Some jobs do require further expertise or tools but if you keep a “I can do it” attitude and take your time you really can figure a lot out.

    And we appreciate your honesty.

In fact, I was just about to start a new "Who gives a shit?" thread but now I see it's not needed... as you've explained the method behind your madness.

Thanks. Just an update granite counters are in, sink itself is in but I’m having issues with the plumbing. Got all the crap I need but forgot the plumbers tape. It’s kind of a pain in the ass not having the faucet in. I should have planned this better and taken a day off. Might do the faucet tonight and the rest of the plumbing Tuesday. I am off on thanksgiving but I’d hate to be under my counters on thanksgiving. Might be the only option.

I like your idea for a “who gives a shit” thread.

They don't have washers these days. Ceramic disc cartridges now.

Is this plumber's tape to seal up wastes? In England they have these rubber cones with a washer and you wiggle it onto the waste, put its washer on, put the backnut on and tighten the backnut up. Instant seal. Brilliant bloody invention.

You're in the right country for granite but there are seven differnent grades. It depends how high up the mountain the granite comes from. Atmospheric pressure and all that. The worst grade you can chip with a heavy glass if you're not careful.

Ah that’s pretty cool. The tape I was speaking of is just for the threads going into the water feed. I already have the putty to install the waste but I like that set up you linked. I think I saw one at Home Depot might grab it no reason not to make the seal as strong as possible
