Default What am i doing wrong ??

Ive been working out for 3 weeks now and i havent seen any improvement what am i doing wrong.

    i do this everyday.

    100 pushups
    700 differents situps (crunches,bicicle,side crunches)
6 min of rotating a 10 pound medicine ball side to side.
6 min moving side to side (like touching the outside of my knee)
4 rounds on heavybag (2rounds of combinations, and 2 rounds of only one hand)
    3mile run

ive started keeping a 1000 calorie per day diet. I havent eaten any junk food that much and ive been drinking a lot of water.

Up your calorie intake to about 1500, keep your carbs in the morning hours for the most part, and your proteins in the afternoons. Don't eat after 9pm. I would suggest doing more pushups, say like 300. I would also suggest running in the morning, and doing like a set of 60 pushups before you leave, and a set after you get done. Your not going to gain much muscle mass without weight lifting, but you may be trying to lose weight, depending on what your current situation is. The rest of your program isnt to bad. I would try to change it up a little bit each day, concentrate on doing more pushups then situps on M,W, F and concentrate on doing more situps on T, TH. Stuff like that to keep it interesting. Write down everything you do everyday. Make goals. Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly. Goals are what get us from one place to the next man. You have to be staring at something, striving for it, making it your life. Without that, you won't be able to continue your training for long periods of time, because then you will eventually become like 99% of the population and except mediocrity. Its a lot easier to watch ESPN then to put in the hard work to someday make it possible that you could be the one they are watching.

And man it's only been 3 weeks. It takes time to get gains. They don't come overnight. The only place success ever came before work is in the dictionary.

    SPORT

Specific - is it specific to your sport and goals
Pogressive- To improve you need it to get harder each week/month
Overload- Harder than you can do (pain zone)
Reversability- Dont train body goes back to how it was before
Time- What are your goals when do you want to achieve them, train regularly, rest you grow when you sleep and rest is therefore very important

look at each one and adapt the programme, go light some days and heavy others, if you go heavy every day you will not improve and even get worse

"2 rounds of only one hand," stop this now it is bad habit, you will drop your hand, always train according to your sport use both hands

Steal somebody elses programme and adapt it, use different programmes and take the best bits try

    very good post but

i think it is good to train 1 hand (punch)
but start off with it and keep the other hand up!!
when i work the heavy bag at home, i alway start my first round working just the jab.
double/triple it up, just the first round, after that do both the folowing rounds.

ad some skipping, shadowboxing to your training before punching the bag.
skip at normal pace for 30sec, than speed up to your max for 30 and then fall back to normal and so on
for 3 min rounds do 2 rounds and after each round you do 3 min shadowboxing and the start skipping again

after 2rounds of both you take 1 min rest and do it again
    (i do this 3 times).

after working the bag also try to do some shadowboxing at a very light pace, and no tention in your
punches (as part of your cool down) and
stretch, rotate your joints and all the regular stuff

    Otto,

Yes, you need more calories. Eat 5 times day. Small meals. Do you worked with weights? Keep both fist up. I've seen many boxing dropping the weaker arm and leaving themselves wide open.
    Keep up the training...

you should go to a nutrionist for that it depends on your trainng program how much your mass is etc. how much calories you should take in

You mentioned your work out routine and how you are not improving, but you did not mention in what way you are expecting to improve, which is a HUGE determining factor in the abilty for someone to give good advice.
do you mean improvements in endurance, all out strength, physique, punching power, flexibility??

One person mentioned to up your calories, but the "improvements" you aren't makings MAY have been loosing bodyfat? and upping the calories certainly wouldn't help that..
Sorry, i'm eager to offer some training advice also but need to know exactly what your trying to improve.

Sorry I didn't read far enough down the post to realise you'd answered my question. I've found a good website not to long ago with a number of very good resources on weight loss dieting for athletes which is good for losing fat without losing any muscle that you've gained through yoru training..

I'll have a look for it and post it up.. Offers a LOT of great advice.
