Default Jeff Horn knocks out Anthony Mundine in the first round

It took just one minute and 36 seconds for Jeff Horn to knock out Anthony Mundine at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

All but one fight on the undercard went the distance, but Horn got the Brisbane crowd off their feet when he sent 'Choc' into retirement in the first round.

Horn came out fast and landed a right hand early, putting the 43-year-old under pressure.

It was a left hook that ended the fight, sending Mundine to the canvas after which he couldn't beat the referee's count.

"I was expecting a tough fight, but I felt really loose at this weight," Horn said following the bout.

The Brisbane local said he didn't know if he would stay at that weight or move back to down to welterweight.

As for Mundine, he officially called it quits in his post-fight interview.

"I’ve had a great career. Jeff proved tonight that he was the better man," Mundine said. "That's the next generation, man. I pass it on to them. I was ready, I prepared well. It's boxing, sometimes you get caught."

Just watched the fight. Mundine is just so old and was getting hit cleanly right from the beginning. I wonder if Horn will just stay at 154 and see what he can do there instead of going back down to 147.

Anthony "Glass Joe" Mundine.....good lord, that punch was nothing special and he just got flattened. That AND he's Sven Ottke's A#1 highlight reel KO victim too. Dang dude, hang up the gloves.

Good on Horn but didn't think it would go that quick. Guess now that Horn cruised a middleweight CW with ease Canelo has no shortage of future possibilities.

As if you or anybody actually cared about this fight. You gonna do anything but troll without being remotely clever, any time?

Jeff Horny Horn has really made it difficult for choosing fighter of the year now, Usyk looked to have it sewn up but with this ko I think the Horn dog really deserves it :S..................

No big surprise here as the featherfisted Sven otke put mundine to sleep years ago.

Crazy to think Mosley fought guys like mayweather, pacquiao, Cotto, DE La Hoya, Canelo but the only man who could stop him was Antony Mundine

Spoiling the outcome of a fight is very poor form in my opinion. I'm not trolling, and there's no need to be clever.

How is it spoiling? The fight had already happened. Don’t go on a boxing message board if you don’t want to know the outcome.

There's no need to post the outcome of a fight in the title of a thread.
If you're eager to discuss the outcome of a fight, you can make the title ambiguous to the result and then add (Spoiler), and then go on to discuss the result in the body of the post.
I think this is a respectful and considerate way to post on a boxing forum.

I think that most people would disagree with your etiquette. For future reference, if you don’t want to know an outcome of a fight, don’t come on a boxing message board.

You think most people would disagree with my etiquette? Why?
It's no harm to anyone to limit the amount of info on the title line, and then continue with the details in the body of the thread.
Why wouldn't you want to be considerate of others who haven't yet seen the fight?
If it's a fight worth talking about, why not encourage people to watch it without revealing the result?
