RIP. One of the most exciting HWs and one of the best HW left hooks in boxing history. Very sad ending to such a crazy life.

I'm waiting on an ESPN or FoxNews report. Because they have killed everyone from Bill Cosby to Jackie Chan over the last two years or so.

That's why I said apparently, On august 26, ESPN stated that he was at death's doorstep, things which I've also read in June-July but I too will wait for an official statement which should come (the death being true or not) within the day as it would have happened yesterday.

Yup but its the same link @Freedom posted. Google has tons of links. Part of me feels bad for him and yet part of me feels he made his own bed. Its one thing to live on the edge a bit but his lifestyle was over the top.

Kwanajah pimatizeesee, Tommy The Duke Morrison. Kawin pimatizeesee.
    Migwetch for the memories.
One of the most entertaining fighters in an era of many outstanding Heavyweight fighters.

Your many struggles since Feb 1996 are finally over.
The struggle for survival is over for you now as you continue your journey into the Spirit-World.
    KisheManitou bless you.
    Rest in Peace...

    Good highlight here:

Nowadays, people act like he was getting knocked out all the time, but out of 52 fights, he only lost 3.

Of the 3 losses, 1 was to a prime Lennox Lewis, the best of the whole crop of heavies.
The Bennt loss was an anomaly where Morrison simply got caught by a 2nd tier fighter(3rd tier?).
The third loss was to a prime Merciless Ray Mercer, an Olympic Gold Medalist who had 2 very controversial decisions with a prime Holyfield and a prime Lennox Lewis. Both were very close fights.

With over a thousand licensed pro boxers worldwide, Morrison was world-class enough to rate Top 4, but not Top 3 which is the elite (Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lennox).

Morrison also knocked the $#!t out of Razor Ruddock, Carl The Truth Williams, Pinklon Thomas, Joe Hipp, outboxed Big George Foreman(next fight Foreman KO'd Michael Moorer for the undisputed Champioship). They also don't know that Morrison beat the living hell out of Ray Mercer for the 1st 4 rds of that fight. Mercer had about the best chin in Boxing at the time.

Only 3 losses in 52 fights, Tommy's loss to unheralded Michael Bentt was a huge upset, but his other two losses were to Gold Medal winners:
    1. A prime Ray Mercer who Tommy beat the living $#!t out of for 4 rds until getting caught in the 5th. Mercer went on to fight both a prime Holyfield and a prime Lennox to a standstill, both fights were very close.
    2. the 2nd loss was to a prime Lennox Lewis who was The Man and the dominant Heavyweight for 8 years.

Tommy was a very good fighter in an outstanding era of Heavyweights.
One of the quickest, devastating left hooks you'll ever see, the guy could really fight.

About a thousand pro Heavyweights worldwide, any Top 10 man is World-Class, and Tommy was good enough to consistently be a Top 4 guy, but just missing that little extra that makes a man the elite Top 3.

    Brad4dboxer.

Good to see you are still around, all be it in a sad situation.

I always use to joke with Brad about Morrison, but I knew he was a very good operator.

And nearly 20 years on from the bulk of his career, his resume looks even better than it did at the time.

He did what was needed against Tillis, Thomas and Vaulin. And although he lost the Mercer fight, he was lively for a few rounds and Mercer turned out to be pretty good.

Morrison rebounded strongly; the fight with Hipp showed his heart, and he gutted it out against The Truth Williams too; another win that looks better now than it did then.

Then came the finest victory of his career, the Foreman fight. Morrison showed he could box, and dominated Foreman. Neither unbeaten Holyfield or Moorer (pre round 10) looked as good against George.

The Bentt fight was one of them things that can happen at Heavyweight, and although Morrison struggled for motivation, the victory over Ruddock is still pretty impressive.

Most felt Lewis put in at the time a career best performance to beat Morrison so well in their fight in 95.

The struggles Morrison then had were so sad; it seems such a cruel illness to ruin a man in the prime of his life...
