    Default Left Hook

You see most guys now throwing the left hook off the front foot. In this fight, you'll see garza throwing it off his back foot, the weight going there first.

That is the way I (used to) teach the punch. I think that @Scrap would agree with that?

Why is the left hook thrown off the front leg?

Laziness. Joe Frazier started this. They'll throw the hook by pushing off the front foot, generating the force by pushing. You can push pretty hard that way, but it is still a push. It also screws you over when you want to throw a right hand behind the hook.
If you throw the hook by turning your weight over the right leg, then using the right side of the body to whip the punch, you'll get more snap. And you'll be in a position to throw a right hand.
Always turn your weight in front of your punches.

I'd imagine that throwing a left hook while really anchoring the back foot would allow you to throw a tighter hook with a ton of whip!

Only thing though, i'd it's imagine it's shorter in range (in comparison to a more front footed hook)? Is that right

Edit - Also, I kinda get the feeling that this hook feels nicer after a jab?

I find if you yell or scream while you throw it you can increase the power of the punch by 10-20%

Understand what actually moves us, and gives us the ability to create power and direction. Its the floor, we dont drive of the floor, we drive in to it. Its all done by Feet and Knees, thats your mechanics of movement. They give you direction and Drive and Depth, and balance.

Isn't the back? We were taught that you can punch hard if you put your back in to the punch.

If you do that you lose balance what moves the back in balance are the feet and knees. Hips only move 6% to protect the coxxys its the knees that do most of the work. Stand with your ankles and knees locked straight try and move your hips. Understand the mechanics of walking, 1st thing we do standing as a baby.

What degree of bend is required in knees and what hour are the toes pointed too?

15% both knees, when lifting the heel to throw the hook, where the heels lift, drop the knees the same amount on the turn. Time between 10 and 15 minutes past 12 imagine you have a piece of 3x2 between the heels.

Ok so pick up the rear heel (left hook) then drop it and come up on the lead foot (toes).
