It's definitely the greatest catch I've ever seen, but being British it's also the only catch I've ever see so wins by default.

    Impressive though

    Is it a great catch?
    Yes.

Is it the greatest catch ever?
    I would say no.

There's been a shit load of great catches in baseball. You just can't compare that catch to a baseball catch.

I mean Edmonds alone has a highlight reel of great catches that would last 10 minutes of non stop amazing catches.

My personal fav. catch has to be "Ichibans" climb on the wall.
Unfortunately I've never been able to find a video on it, online...

The way I see it is like this...

It's like saying this is the greatest goal ever...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-10EN5WS6VA

Sure it's a goal and it's great but it's Futsal and not football.

What about Jarzinhos goal in the WC, Zidanes left shot vs. Milan in the CL.
Or Henrys self serve shot vs. Man U.

    You just can't compare them.

I maybe wrong but I think the title was rhetorical like when you see a sexy girl walking down the street and say 'How hot is she?!!?!?' It's basically a statement, like damn she's hot, you're not really asking a serious question to your friends and expecting them to analytically break down and evaluate her 'hotness'

I would have put money on ICB to have been the one to reply like you did

I don't know why but whenever I see those words I always feel most at home here. I find comfort in abuse, it makes me feel like I'm part of one big family

I agree about Ozzie Smith. Though I think the best defensive play I've ever seen was of all people, Tsuyoshi Shinjo in San Francisco the year we had him. Actually it wasn't in San Francisco it was in Montreal. And Shinjo made the most ridiculous play I've ever seen, there was a runner on 1st I believe with a head start and the ball got hit into the alleyway and rolled all the way to the wall for what looked like an easy score, EASY. Shinjo went SPRINTING over to the ball rolling on the ground and in a single motion, he scooped the ball off the ground and threw it back to the diamond off his backfoot with his momentum taking him away. The ball went over the cutoff man's head and got to Benito Santiago at home plate to the first base side and in one motion he caught the ball on the backhand and then dove back for home plate and the runner was gone. It was CRAZY.

Shinjo was always fun to watch if just for the laughs...

It's a shame he hit for like .200 as a Giant because he was awesome. But I can't say I miss the asian girls going CRAZY over him. Best seats I ever had was half watching security holding back the crazy Asian girls trying to get pictures. Was nuts
