Shogun versus Forrest Griffin at UFC 76

I don't know, I must have missed Griffin lately, has he fought since the Ortiz fight? I don't see that guy beating Shogun.

this match will either be brilliant or a stinker i think, good chance for forrest though, lets hope sogun doesnt take this match lightly like cro-cop did in his last match, Shogun is really enjoying the way he is being treated in UFC apparently,he says he has never been treated with this much hospitality even when he was in pride.

This is actually pretty smart on UFC's part....Originally I think Shogun was going to fight Machida, which for hardcore MMA fans is pretty intriguing, but for a casual or relatively new fan isn't that big a deal. What we tend to over look is that many new or casual UFC fans until recently didn't know what Pride was and are not familiar with its fighters...But ever MMA noob knows who Griffin is and respects him(regardless if you think he deserves it or not). Not to mention Grifiin is going to stand and bang with Shogun. You don't have to worry about some lay and pray yawner or overly technical bout. Forrest should make Shogun look real good. It gives Shogun a legit UFC name and an opportunity to make a big splash, and even if Forrest wins all that does is give Dana another media friendly name to push instead of trying to get UFC fans to get excited about a brazilian fighter that many have never heard of....I'm telling you if Babalu wins his next and Shogun wins these two will fight...Only real legit loss of Mauricios record and another "name" that UFC fans know. Shogun beats these two "name" guys and either a title shot or fight with Chuck...Which I'd love.
