    Default Sky Sports Cancels Ringside

Sky Sports' Ringside Show is Coming To an End - Boxing News

Sky Sports is cancelled their magazine show Ringside and is moving content online. This is a bit of a blow really as I always felt it was a good bridge for the average fan to learn a little more about boxing and it helped promote the shows Sky had coming up. Hopefully there isn't a decline in Sky's ratings after this.

I hadn't heard this. I watch that every week without fail and it's how I get to hear of young up and coming guys and it's also done lots of good clips on unknown people, trainers etc in the sport ..... As well as getting some really big names on the show.

What a shame, I feel sorry for Johnny Nelson too.

They will put everything on PPV now. Ringside show will just promote the ppv shows now.

Fucking senseless if you ask me, and a real shame. You can't just make everything PPV, and I don't think everybody will pay.
So all the good work over the last few years they've done to build up Boxing on Sky will come down like a pack of cards imo.
If you want to build a sport up , even for PPV, there has to be an accessible programme to showcase it. Crazy!

Just to clarify, there is no word on going PPV all the time. They couldn't anyway. No fucker would buy that Liverpool show on Friday for a start.

I have felt that the show has been getting worse for a while and instead of providing original content for an hour with some great analysis, it has become a tool for promoting Hearn's fighters.

I would have cut the programme to 30 minutes instead of scrapping it altogether. I mean they still have a weekly fishing programme.

Sky's boxing coverage and the airtime they give the sport has always been very good, so I'm disappointed to hear this news. Let's face it, the terrestrial channels don't give a shit about boxing and haven't done for years now.

Sky seem to be intent on making boxing PPV and this decision appears to be another example of that. This could bite them on the arse eventually because the majority of their PPV events have been absolutely dreadful and fans won't keep stumping up for shitty cards like the last few.

Sky do all the sports and basically overpaid for the football/soccer rights and need to recoup that money which is why they are putting on ppv to make up for the shortfall.

This is the reason why AJ, Brooks and Froch have to keep winning.

Haven't watched on a regular basis for ages now and I won't miss it , it's just a hype tool for Hearn and Hearn associated shows . Let's be honest if it's not Hearn related and a british show it will get very little time on the show . Johnny Nelson is ok but is better as a pundit at fights than a presenter and Adam smith personally comes across as creepy and makes me want to turn over . Also in interviews smith asks same question in exactly the same way and his reactions are predictable get him off air completely .

    Exciting times

I watch it religiously too. Shame. Although I prefer their toe-2-toe podcast, especially when Ed Robinson is on
