An Article About My Friend. May He Rest In Peace

This man did so many things for me. Years ago, not long before I found this site, I wrote a letter to Norm Fraunheim, who was the boxing writer at the Arizona Republic at the time. I told him that the new best trainer in Arizona had just hit down; he gave the letter to Lou. He mentioned it years later when we were talking about me working with the fighter in this article. But, for at least two years before those conversations, that man was going around telling people that he had found the new best trainer in boxing- he carried copies of my posts from training boards on other sites- and, once we met, he did everything in his power to let me prove him right. Because if him, I communicate with former world champions, with guys that have trained world champions, with guys that, due to their success on the business side of boxing, are in the HoF. People that I read about for years are my friends. All because this man put his career and his credibility on the line for "some guy you found on the internet." God bless him and may he rest in peace. I will never forget what he has done for me.

I miss the daily boxing conversations. And I know you know what this means...you get to talk to Frankie Duarte and Rene Arredondo. I grew up watching them fight and all of a sudden I am talking to them on equal terms. I almost fainted.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. That is a fantastic article ( even Arum is linking to it on Twitter, asking people to read it) and echoes the stories of a lot of the 'characters' or 'rough diamonds' that i have met over here, in and around boxing over the years. Being able to spot talent, having the belief and faith that you can help them make it is a crucial part of boxing at all levels and without guys like Lou and yourself in their corner there would be no more future fighters to inspire the next generation.
