    Default Trevor Berbick --

A difficult one for some to assess. Perhaps his best performance was beating a solid HW Champion in Pinklon Thomas. Maybe most famous for losing his belt to Mike Tyson with that staggering about the ring and falling thing from the temple shot. And of course the infamous win over old Muhammad Ali in Ali's last fight: The Drama in The Bahamas. Then he gets killed in 2006 in Jamaica after being deported from both Canada and the US. Some people say he was 1 of the 5 most important heavyweights of the 1980s. Very unique style of fighting.

addendum: and what the hell was wrong with the ref in that last Crabtree fight? WAAAAAY too many punches to the head even if they were arm punches from Berbick.

The fight you put where he faced Snipes was a good contest. Showed he had plenty of talent and heart.

I will always remember Berbick’s loss to Tyson. I give him credit building up to that fight.
Until him, every single opponent had been intimidated by Tyson and he was determined to show he wasn’t scared of Tyson and the same wouldn’t be happening to him.
He even wore the black boots with no socks to mimic Tyson.
Unfortunately he didn’t take into account that Tyson was worthy of the hype.
And he was so eager to get up and show he wasn’t intimidated , that he almost didn’t realise his legs were like jelly and was clearly furious with himself.
I felt a bit sorry for the guy.
Former Undisputed 4 belt Prediction champion. Still P4P and People’s Champion.

I always felt the same. If he woulda stayed down and not jumped up out of embarrassment, he would not be remembered as a floundering fish. Stay down, take the 9 count, give yourself a chance. It was a temple shot so the balance prob woulda been gone for more than the 9 count and Tyson more than likely woulda finished his ass off even if he did get up at 9.

    here it is:

Berbick wore the black shorts and forced Tyson to pay a fine as he wanted to wear black. Trevor did wear long black socks which looked like stockings.

Berbick took Tyson's bombs in the first round but could not keep it up for the second. It is not easy to try and back a peak Tyson up, to try and bully him. Tyson was too skilled. Love that fight know every punch off by heart.
