I hit Walmart today. It’s one of the Walmart’s with the grocery section. It’s my first grocery trip in three weeks. Had an orderly line outside, everyone six feet apart. Inside wasn’t bad but fresh veggies and meat were wiped out. Anyway it seems like everyone was dealing with the new situation. There always seems to be one idiot who is oblivious to the social distancing thing. I don’t freak out if someone gets close I work in tight quarters with 40 mostly insane people so social distancing isn’t always possible in my work facility, I accept that but this damn lady behind me was two feet behind me in the check out line as she couldn’t wait a couple minutes to grab the impulse buy candy. I’m thinking wtf lady what’s the rush. This happened to me three weeks ago I shot the dude a dirty look and he backed up. That’s fine maybe he just forgot but this damn lady was too focused on candy. I know two people who caught this wuhan shit one may be in for some rough times as she has MS. I’m not hyper vigilant about this stuff as my job increases my risks, I accept that but I think of my wife. I think when you are at the store, even if you have a bit of a fuck it attitude like I do follow the damn procedure. It’s not that difficult. Just give everyone room. I didn’t wear a mask, probably should have but I save them for work. FYI the main reason I went shopping was I ran out of cat litter. So my cats chilled happily at home while I go deal with this nonsense. I hope I don’t give my cats wuhan. Would have been a perfectly fine trip one lady had to fuck it up for me.

Last time I went, they were making us walk up and down in a row and you could not go backwards so if you forgot something you had to go all the way to the start again.

    Nice fun and games.

After all these years of throwing away bread (literally whole loafs every week) i've discovered you can freeze it. Amazing. Never suffer the paranoia of mouldy spots again. And a tin of 11-month out-of-date beans and sausages looked, smelt and tasted perfect (I would have instantly thrown it without experiencing this apocalypse).

When I disappear in the next few weeks it wasn't the corona I poisoned myself. Fact.

Found that out myself regarding cans some time back. Commercial canning is pretty stringent and mainly you're dealing with a quality not safety issue when it comes to sell-by dates. No dents or rust in dry space and sealed cans, not pull tops, really keep for a few years beyond most dates. I keep a smaller storage unit of canned and vacuum sealed products. Usually 'rotate' cans every six months for a SHTF moment, stews, meats, potatoes and veggies etc and once they hit 1 year over we'll just drive a trunk load over to a local food pantry who are more than happy to take them. Bread I had no idea about . Wonder if same holds for bagels and muffins etc.

It works quite well. You will notice after a certain period of time the bread will get freezer burn and prior to that that texture will change but you have quite a bit of time prior to that happening.

Makes no sense with the abilities we have on hand, food banks running near empty in some places but farmers forced to destroy crops with sales and demand from so many eateries way down. Should any Country willfully be destroying otherwise viable food sources ffs. Especially after there was a major bail out to keep so many afloat. I don't fault a farmer but lack of respect for the need and focus and lead on logistics. I really do feel shat for a family with no idea where they're next check and meal is coming and even worse for ones with kids.

Alright Now it's getting serious! Hit 4 large grocery stores locally and zilch, does not exist on the shelf. Hit the big box places and a couple of pretty deep Spanish stores. Literally everything available. But fecking Fong's sriracha. Can pick up on amazon but much steeper price. And the last time I received liquids from them let's just say didn't go well.
