I think he had an amazing fight with Lupe Pintor. And as most of his fights ended in brutal KO's,they are all great to watch. I recall his fight with Ding Kyun Yum being good,I saw that recently.
I see a highlight of the Pintor fight that looked brutal i'll try and get that one for certain and also his fight with Zarate.Originally Posted by El Gamo

After that,it was all down hill for holmes as gomez roared back(what else did you expect)and proceeded to Treat Holmes LIke a human yo-yo.Gomez scored 2 Knockdowns in the 3rd.In the 4th gomez dropped holmes with a weak body shot and actually bent down ,got in holmes face and mocked him bad.Gomez scored FOUR more knockdowns in the SAME round. The 5th started with Holmes boxing sharp and then Gomez again dropped him,Holmes got up.....And again Gomez caught him with rt/lf and the towell came in from Holmes corner.Poor kid dropped Nine times in 3 rnds. Not the best known Gomez bout but Had to be on of the most humbling to his opponent.

I would 1st recommend you watch "Bazooka: The Battles of Wilfredo Gomez" a trully great documentary on him. I had this recorded on my TiVo and one of my younger brothers accidently deleted it. I only saw it once that night that it aired.
Like most documentarys it gives you an in depth look at him as a person, a fighter, a professional, a friend.
Here are some of my favourite Gomez fights in no particular order and not inlcuding the Sanchez fight as thats a gimmie fight.
Juan Meza - Hard puncher and a gutsy fighter. Gave Gomez a fight and I also like that Meza wen't on to become champion when he defeated Garza in one of the best 1 rd. fights in history and also a major upset in boxing.
Lupe Pintor - What a fucken war. From begining to end and Lupe had Gomez several times but just couldn't finish the job. It was a back and forth fight all the way through. The punches these 2 threw were with conviction and intentions to punish and hurt one another. Then the famous low blows by Gomez wether they had an effect on Pintor or not we don't for sure....Gomez dug deep and finished off Pintor with some head shots. What a fight this was.
Azumah Nelson - Another epic battle for Gomez this time he faced the very skilled 'Professor'. Oddly enough for this fight they kinda swtiched rolls, as Gomez moved early on and boxed more and Nelson was more agressive and brought on the fight more. What a exciting fight from begining to end, with Gomez power shots and Nelsons jab it was action all the way through. People say this had to do with Gomez moving up in weight and he was fighting out of his weight.... To me he just lost another fight I mean he fought well I didn't see him weak or anything. Nelson just caught him with a perfect like right hand and just lit up on Gomez after that.
Carlos Zarate - I like the fight but I have a handful of issues with this fight and I've mentioned them before. I'll start off with saying that Zarate had no business fighting Gomez if he was sick. Zarate was having trouble keeping food down and was sick with a stomach ache 1 day before the way in Zarate ate as much as he could and he came in overweight then had to loose the weight. So right off the bat he shouldn't be fighting but oh! well he did. The other issue I have is Gomez hits Zarate while he was down and I mean BIG not a little tap or nothing but a big punch while Zarate was already down. If you watch several of Gomez fights you'll notice he does this often, he hits them while they are already down and the ref. has already stepped in. If I'm not mistake he does this to Pintor also.
Gomez has lot's of great battles I would recommend watching any fight of his.
Thanks alot CMM i will get round to watching all of them im going to start with Zarate one then Nelson one when i have watched all the fights on your list i will have a look at that documentary and you know when i watched that Pintor vs Gomez fight yesterday Mick what was funny to me is that just after the 12th round had finished one of Gomez's cornerman actually picked him up and carried him back to the corner i have never seen anything like that before that was like something out of a Rocky movie great fight by the way that brutal left hook that finished off Pintor was perfect.Originally Posted by CutMeMick
by the way CMM for helping out.
Can't get Zarate one at moment but i found Nelson one and its downloading now so i'll let you know later what i think.
Not a problem ICB.... Well that was crazy but I've seen some crazier shit then that.Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
You'll love the Nelson fight trust me.Originally Posted by ICE COLD BOXING
Just watched Nelson vs Gomez great fight Nelson was backing up Gomez constantly and was walking through Gomez's best shots Nelson was like a machine quite unreal how he kept coming and coming Nelson's defense was also solid and the 7th round was a classic as for the ending it was brutal the trouble started for Gomez when Nelson hit him with that solid right hand then he hit Gomez with so many punches quite unreal how Gomez stayed up that long he showed alot of heart the last knockdown was brutal great fight really enjoyed.
