just as i thought, the guy was wrong, i'm sure someone here would have said if glove size had changed
If you are an amatuer boxer and are a light weight or anything around that you use 10oz glovesOriginally Posted by nuclear bull
If your a light heavy (like my brother) then you use 12oz gloves.
If your a professional you use 8oz gloves
Below Lightmiddle 8/oz Above 10/oz

They go by different rules
no amateur wears an 8oz and "contests" are for amateur
"fights" are for pros
in the pro's 160 and up they use 10 oz gloves below 8 oz, in amateurs it's 12 oz for 154 and up and below it's 10 oz....now there are plenty of amateur shows that only use 12 oz gloves no matter what the weight is....for safety purposes....Originally Posted by nuclear bull
It feels good to be back home.
As a lightweight i compete with a 10oz amateur, the safety purposes comes with the way their made. Amateurs use 4 layer impact absorbant padded gloves.Originally Posted by bigragu
Pros just use gloves made out of horse hair
Pros use the same type of glove as the amauter no difference.
