    Default RIP Alex "Destroyer" Stewart

    http://ringsidereport.com/?p=64828

Gone at 52. Far too soon for such an entertaining and courageous fighter. He was a bit before my time to watch him fight live but I've seen a handful of his fights and he was in some wars.By all accounts, he was a class act and always a bit of an unsung hero in boxing in my eyes.

RIP, doesn't say how he died, any idea? Always makes me realize what a freak Hopkins has been when you think of all the fighters who are/were basically the same age as him.

He was a warrior for sure, aside from Tyson he gave everyone hell including young Holyfield and Moorer, both crazy fights. He probably should have gotten the decision against Foreman after turning him into the elephant man, that was hideous.

Blood clot in his lung I read on Rafael's ESPN article. Yes, that Moorer fight was great as was his elevator fight with a gatekeeper late in his career. Wanna say it was Ezra Sellers.

He did give Moorer, Holyfield and Foreman tough fights. Tyson blasted him out but once he got going he was difficult to beat.

It was on Sky and I did not have it then. I think it was his second comeback fight after he got beat against Buster.

I was one of only a few of my mates who had sky (cable)

I remember the buster fight being around that time because I watched both fights in the same house

if youd have asked me tho, from memory id have said the stewart fight came first

    youre probably right though

Tyson went on Sky against Bruno and then Buster and lost. I found out the next day and was shocked. Tyson should have stayed on ITV and won.

First heard of this and it really does suck! Stewart was the laughing stock with a very padded record pre Holyfield. Then he went to war with him! Aside from Tyson, Stewart hurt every fighter he lost to. Took knockdowns...at times multiple and cuts and still battled behind a very sharp heavy jab and contenders power. He hammered Foreman into a misshapen mound of raw hamburger and could have easily been declared victor. Soft spoken and easy to forget he was a transplant from across the pond. RIP Mr. Stewart.

Damn, sorry to hear about Stewart!

I'll never forget the thrashing he gave Foreman! Made him look like Quasimodo

    RIP Champ!
