Default Canelo lined up for MASSIVE 60,000 event at new Las Vegas Allegiant Stadium

Canelo Alvarez is lining up a huge 60,000 plus gathering to mark the opening of the all-new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mexican pound for pound hero, who is massively affiliated with the state, is aiming to headline at the venue for September 2020. Currently under construction, the new purpose-built home for the Las Vegas Raiders NFL team, is due to open in August of next year.

Extreme weather conditions in Vegas mean the arena needs a roof. Something which suits hosting boxing events to a tee

Golden Boy Chairman Oscar De La Hoya has already put the feelers out on Canelo staging what would be one of the biggest boxing cards of all time. By Mexican Independence Day Weekend in twelve months, fans can expect the sport to begin a big presence at what will be a huge rival for the AT & T Stadium in Texas.

Ryan Garcia, the new generation of GBP superstars, is being earmarked to co-feature alongside Canelo. Both are set to fight on November 2nd as Canelo bids to win a fourth-weight world title against Sergey Kovalev on November 2nd.

No doubt Canelo should have no trouble filling the as-yet-unfinished Allegiant Stadium. No doubt he'll even do better than the Oakland Los Angeles Oakland Las Vegas Raiders, who will fit into the Vegas scene like a square peg in a round hole.

People with money do stupid things... and Allegiant Stadium will likely turn out to be a gigantic monument to such stupidity.

Moving the Raiders from Oakland amounts to NFL heresy.... and it's laughable to think Vegas folks can have the same time of fervor/passion to fill a football stadium as they do their casinos.

Vegas has been annexed by Mexico (in boxing terms) anyway, so future Canelo fights can now fit even more legions of groupies than MGM, Mandalay Bay, and T Mobile combined.

Once the Raiders have become tired of the indifference and sparse crowds, they'll be moved to another city (maybe Oakland again) and Allegiant will simply become Canelo Coliseum.
