Default Will Andre Ward duck Sergey Kovalev?

Ward keeps shamelessly calling out boxers from smaller weight divisions.

He wants to fight Floyd Mayweather at 160.

Ward has been repeatedly demanding Gennady Golovkin move up to 168 to fight him, but it's not a lucrative fight for GGG. If Ward wants him so bad, why not move down to 160?

Why won't Ward start talking about Sergey Kovalev, who is the same size although not as thickly built as Ward?

The egotistical self-declared "Son of God" demanded a 172 catch weight for his last fight, that weight is considered light heavyweight.

Kovalev was a middleweight in the amateurs, Ward fought at light heavyweight.

Sergey's experience with Cedric Agnew and excellent preparation for Bernard Hopkins has taught him to avoid head butts. And Sergey is strong enough to resist Ward's clinching and clamping his arms. So it would be a fair fight: skill against skill, power against power.

Ward has never called out Floyd who is far too small. There is a thread here saying he wants to fight GGG and Kov which I do not believe either.

You are correct, there is a lot of BS in that thread.

Ward will fight GGG but only at 168 and probably only in Oakland. He never mentions Kovalev.

None of this is true. Ward said he would accept the catchweight GGG asked for so saying he will demand 168 is BS.

And he has already begun negotiations with Kovalev for next year.

Just say you want GGG to continue fighting guys that aren't on his level.

Also if you knew anything about Wards amateur career you would know he fought almost all of it as a middleweight and went to lightheavy for the good of the team. And if you knew anything about Kovalevs amateur career you would know he fought at lightheavy his last 4 amateur years.

Any more propaganda you would like to spread?

@Freedom - you can't duck a fighter in the division above you. Until Ward moves there, he can't be seen to duck Kovalev.

However, he hasn't faced DeGale or Dirrell at super middleweight. They are the foes he should target.

No! The issue is will Kovalev move to a catchweight below? Odds are it will be difficult for him to do so!

The Mad Russian is asking for another Pascal fight for some reason and lets be honest when it came down to shit or get off the pot for Stephenson he ducked him after all the talk and t-shirts depicting him as a monkey.

And @Rantcatrat is dead on. Thats why its so ridiculous to say the Kazak is ducking Ward or Floyd is ducking him. Shit some people still think Hagler ducked Spinks.

Yet some Ward fans are saying GGG is ducking the self-proclaimed Son of God.

Then he can fight GGG at 160. He made Chad Dawson fight him at 168.

Why did he demand a catchweight of 172 for his fight with Smith?

    Good point.

Ward said that he asked for the catchweight at 172 for Smith so that he test the waters at light heavy, to see how he felt. So it is a valid point to ask why he wanted a super middle to fight at 172 and an actual light heavy in Dawson to come down to 168 ? Where is the consistency? Ward is being given a free pass and Golovkin is being jumped on for what exactly ? Where are the concrete offers he has turned down ? Considering that the guy who negotiated a fee for the lineal title from a shot Martinez actually flat out refused to entertain fighting at middle weight, on live television, it seems people are traveling an awful long way to somehow blame GGG for avoiding Ward.

Thanks, Bud. I don't think Hagler ducked Spinks in the same way I don't think GGG is ducking Ward by not moving up in weight. However, as a fan, it would have been fun to see a fight between Hagler and Spinks at 175, and, while Ward fights aren't particularly entertaining, GGG and Ward at 168 would be a battle between two great fighters.

So now we know it was more bullshit from the Ward camp. And before we get the old "he'd go to 168 for Froch and Chavez, but wants to make Ward boil", of course he would, because Froch and Chavez are not in Ward's league.
To be honest , I don't blame either party, it's one of those fights that won't get made. I can understand both sides.
GGG should fight Lemieux ,then Canelo or Cotto (if they've got the balls, probably not.)
And Ward should fight a top SMW , One of the champions , followed by hopefully Kovalev.
