Interesting fight here. Give Walters a great chance of beating Donaire.
Yes it's a good fight , may just give Donaire the edge Walters is a good fighter, a good match
up this is what we want,
Sweet fight. I've only seen Walters against Darchinyan but he looks pretty sound and dangerous, certainly had a much easier time there than Donaire had not long before.
If this guy can fight for 12 rounds and move to his left, I don't see why he shouldn't win this myself.
Great addition to the night of boxing. I'm a fan of Donaire for the anti-doping stance he's taken and his great wins at the lower weights, but he seems to really have plateaued. He's become a guy who relies on his power. I haven't watched a lot of Walters, but he's a natural featherweight, and he's got the right trajectory here. I'll go with my head not my heart and vote Walters by KO. I think Top Rank is cashing out on him.
I understand there is a strong likelihood that GGG smashes through Rubio but I'm still looking forward to the fight, if anything, because (1) any fight GGG is in is exciting and (2) Rubio is a perennial top ten middleweight and he won't be intimidated by GGG--he'll stick to his plan for however long that lasts.
All in all, this is a good card at the Home Depot Center in Carson.
I'm actually still a little in shock that Arum put this together or rather allowed it.
Walters is the bigger man. I cant help but think its a torch pass although Walters does not move his head. Donaires power imo is vastly over played because he knocked out smaller men and now he's the smaller man facing a massive puncher. Because of that real or perceived power Donaires become a one handed fighter. With Rigo that was evident by the way he was taken apart technically but in this case he may land his money punch but I don't think it makes Walters blink. I just don't see him surviving here because I seriously doubt he can discourage Walters and keep him off him.
On the other hand perhaps Donaire has totally rededicated himself and he comes out and does a Leonard/Hagler impersonation, pot shotting, using the ring and staying on the outside. At least he canned Panama Garcia and is back with his dad so he wont need to train via email and the phone
I think this is one bridge too far for Donaire and he will lose. Physicality not to mention Donaire is literally sporting a muffin top with this division hoping. Walters shows enough composure and hand speed to get Donaire once again overly reliant on left hook power to pull him outta the fire, and Donaire has been getting hit a plenty recently.
This is going to be a big fight! Is this ppv?
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
