    - undefeated 28-0
    - never been knocked down as an amateur or as a pro
    - 6'5", 240 pounds (no blown up cruiserweight)
    - young at age 28 and in his physical prime (no shot old guy)
    - active, he fought 4 times in 2012
    - a southpaw (more difficult style for the champ)
    - a known name in Germany, makes the fight bigger there

Decent opponent for Wlad right now, as long as he fights Povetkin in late summer.

@Freedom - The fact you're trying to sell this as credible has me suspecting you are Bernd Boente.

ESPN show FNF most weekend and the best bit is the boxing news and interviews. It comes free with my package (with Eurosport incidentally) so have kept the bigger package with the crap 200 channels that I never watch, but the kids are happy. However ESPN have lost the football next season which is another reason why I may drop it.

BTW I did the Haye v Wlad rbr which was Wlad chasing and pawing and Haye running and falling to the ground round after round and after round. I will join you and comment on what I see which may be clearer than your stream as I often find them running behind and buffering.

Wlad looks like he means business. Pianeta looks in good shape, but I was reading some comments where somebody said Pianeta was kicked out of Wlad's training camp for Thompson....don't know why or if it had any bearing on Wlad picking Pianeta to fight, but Frankie doesn't look too thrilled about things right now.

If history is any judge of the future Wlad being over 245 tells me we should see a KO around 4-7, though I'm thinking more 2-5...stupid boxrec doesn't show the weights of past fights anymore unless you log in.....the jerks.

That's exactly what Wladimir's training camp manager Dave Williams said.

On paper a mismatch, but aren't all fights involving Wlad nowadays? Wlad is the Gold Standard but Pianeta is not the bum that the general public believe. I (and Wlad) know Pianeta is a better fighter than some of the "marquee" names that Wlad has been beating up over the past several years...

Why I'll be watching this fight:

    Pianeta
    1) Left handed (Wlad doesn't like lefties)
    2) Young and strong only 28 yrs old
    3) Good chin - never been knocked down
    4) Appears in great shape
    5) Good footwork - seems to create range
    6) Not a gross height mismatch

    Wlad
    1) No more Manny - will his psyche be affected?
    2) 37 years old - no spring chicken
    3) Has not been tested in years
    4) made his money, got engaged, living the "red carpet" lifestyle
    5) While Pianeta is not heavy handed Wlad never had a great chin.

They both appear to be in great physical condition which is refreshing. I also get the impression that Pianeta is not showing up just for the payday as so many of Wlads recent opponents have. Either way these are two class individuals who represent what the sport should be about....Now let's hope we see a fight

Anyone that has taken Frans Botha anywhere past 8 rounds can't be a serious contender to be worried about.

This Pianeta guy must be a part of Wlad's stable and Wlad is giving him a good payday before he retires.

for the current situtation wladimir is in this fight is not that bad really, he has to have a fight around this time to fufil his contract with german tv and povetkin is not happening for a while yet, he doesnt want to hang around and do nothing either... and really who else would take a fight v wladimir right now without demanding a kings ransom, i really cant think of many people better than pianeta that would take on wladimir and make financial sense for old wlad... this fight will be big in germany as usual and maybe even italy too due to pianetas heritage... he is tall and in good condition and undefeated, I really dont think this is as bad as some people are making it out to be.

    Hammer wins by wide decision.

Mike Perez vs. Travis Walker is about to start.
