Did anyone else instantly think Toney-Nunn? Fuck me, Kovalev even went face first over the ropes like Nunn. Talk about history repeating itself.

I had it even, however, always thought the little man was in charge. Anyone who had him way behind should give him credit for spectacularly turning it around. And also credit to Canelo for recognising Kovalev was limp and needed help.

Anyone thinking Kov was 'Dictating' the Fight' needs to watch again with their head on the outside of their arse. Whatever you think of Canelo he dealt very impressively with the job in front of him. Palmerq is right Canelo does not seem to have it in his arsenal to be able to make the adjustments needed to move and shut opponents down earlier by setting traps, he thinks about it and trys a bit without committing too much, but he is still a top fighter despite that. Just continues to prove how good Golovkin was/is.

Be interesting to see what is next and exactly what Canelo will have to do before people start admitting the guy is top drawer.

Ward seems happy in retirement, but would he return for a Canelo clash at 175 or Cruiser?

For what? Been retired for what 2 years? He would need a tune up. Like you said he is happy, nothing to prove. He turned Koalev into the shell of a fighter he is today

I had Kov up but much rather see that than whatever ridicelous 119-109 scorecard they were going to feed to the public. canelo's chin and power carried up it seems but not sure he should dance with beterbiev but might be one FUN fight.

That would be rubbish. There are loads of great fights for Canelo against young prime dudes like him - Bivol, Smith, Saunders, Benavidez (politics), Andrade?

No way he goes back to 160, he'll drag the middleweights up to 168 - which is only GGG/Andrade - and can easily fight the others at 168 or even a 170 catchweight. I've ignored Beterbiev for obvious reasons - it doesn't make sense for Canelo/politics.

Not as rubbish as Floyd vs McGregor, or some of the other crap they have sold over the years. I'm not saying it should happen. Just asking if Ward would be enticed back. For Canelo, it's another big name, with advantages stacked in his favor.

Sorry meant to like rather than dislike your post and now I can’t change it on my phone.
The only part of your post I would question is about proving how good GGG is.
I feel slightly the opposite really . Pre-Canelo , GGG was being talked of as some sort of beast, and if anything , the Jacobs and Canelo fights were where he found his level, which were short of that.
Obviously he was/is getting older every day and that has to be factored in as well.

I doubt Canelo would call for that fight but maybe. The problem is that if Ward accepted it, it would mean that he feels good and knows he can win. If Ward were anything like he were before, he would shut out Canelo.

Interested to hear how we think Kovalev would do against Pascal at this stage.

I would be more interested in Kov face the other 2 champs and get destroyed by them.

Pascal is still pretty durable. I can’t see Kovalev withstanding the pressure like he did in his prime.

Yea pretty even match up these days, Kovalev's chin deminished almost as quickly as Jones Jr's.
