    Default Callum Smith v Hofkitnzts

Callum Smith's World Boxing Super Series semi-final against Jurgen Brahmer will take place on Saturday 24 February in Nuremberg, Germany.

The winner of this bout will face either George Groves or Chris Eubank Jr in the super-middleweight event final.

Liverpool-based Smith, 27, is unbeaten in his 23 professional contests, with 22 victories coming in Great Britain and the other win in the United States.

German Brahmer, 39, has won 49 of his 52 bouts since turning professional.

He is a former WBA world champion at light-heavyweight but dropped down a weight class to super-middleweight after losing his belt when he suffered an elbow injury against Wales' Nathan Cleverley in October 2016.

Both fighters won their quarter-finals on points, with Brahmer beating American Rob Brant in October, while Smith saw off Sweden's Erik Skoglund in September.

The Smith-Brahmer bout will come a week after Groves and Eubank Jr fight in their semi-final - with Groves' WBA world title also on the line - in Manchester on 17 February, with the Super Series final to take place in May.

The winner of the tournament will collect the Muhammad Ali Trophy.

I expect Smith to win but Brahmer may prove a test,! it's a interesting fight but in Germany I fancy a Jr and Smith in the final up to now a good tournament.

Was a natural for this fight to land in Germany. Braehmer looked good and refreshed in schooling the untested Brant. I was interested to see what he liked like at 168, and I think this fight is 50/50. Braehmer's experience may prove invaluable once again.

Braehmer has always been underrated by Brit/US fans (because he's German) but after quitting against Cleverly (he wasn't getting outboxed), to then drop to supermiddle and wipe the floor with Brant was a big surprise.

Now Smith is significantly bigger, rangier and better than Brant. However, he's coming off his toughest fight to date, where he was walloped into survival mode at one stage, takes a big step-up in class, away from home, against a man that's won a million title fights and has never been on the deck.

The promising young fella with potential is 1/10

    The proven veteran is 5/1

Braehmer pulls out, Smith will fight a replacement. Bloody shame, i've been topping up that 5/1 over the weeks.

This comp is getting a hiding just when it all looked hunky dory.

That is a great shame the competition has been brilliant and stars at cruiserweight have been made by the tournament.

According to multiple sources, 34-year-old Nieky Holzken (13-0, 10 KOs) of the Netherlands is the frontrunner to replace Braehmer.
Holzken was already scheduled to fight on the undercard against Dmitry Chundinov.
"The Natural" Holzken is very well respected kickboxer who converted over to boxing. The he was the Glory welterweight champion, a two-time European Muay Thai champion and the K-1 MAX Scandinavia 2006 tournament champion.
Nearly all of Holzken's boxing matches have taken place in the Netherlands. He's never faced anyone on the level of Smith, but makes a better late-replacement than Chudinov, who is coming off a decision loss to 45-year-old Lolenga Mock.http://www.boxingscene.com/callum-sm...-clash--125464

I think Eubank Junior could be ready.

How does that failure deserve another payday?
As far as Braehmer getting injured, it's a real shame. The tournament was gaining momentum and going along nicely. Now with the Groves injury, and this, it's come to a grinding halt.
It's gonna be very difficult to keep that momentum going.

I think this is a perfect opportunity to delay the final so that Groves can get ready and Smith to fight Brahmer.

That would be ideal, I think they have a strict schedule to keep to. Would be perfect to delay it, giving Groves recovery time and Braehmer time to fight Smith.

Was gonna say Chundinov would have been a much better replacement, a good/solid fight... then realised it was the crap brother not Memphis's Matt Damon one.

Conspiracy nut here, but anyone think Sauerland paid of Braehmer to pull out? Making it easier for Smith to make it to an 'All British' final.
