Wales are great.. Their back row is the best in the world. And so is their anthem.
They fought like warriors as always. Very even match. Very pleased but well done Wales.

What a thunderous opening game. I thought Wales were going to completely butcher England after 15 minutes, and I was even confident at half time that we would win. Fair play, England were just excellent throughout the second half and there was only one side in it from then onwards.

Their tactics were spot on ....l kept it tight and dominated the set piece. Kicked a lot so Wales were left playing in their own half and we looked a bit one dimensional to be honest. The better team won fair and square, and I think that's Englands best result since 2003.

I'm genuinely gutted, that is a shattering defeat for Wales and lays down a real English marker for the World Cup.

Big win for England vs Italy. Won't be happy to concede tries though. But our backs look dangerous.
You were quite right @X that the enforced changes to England's backs seem to be a bit of a blessing.
Would still want Launchbury and Lawes in our second row though.

Coming from behind again. I fear for the English, think Ireland and France will do us over.

Well, the second weekend is now over.

England looked good against Italy, solid up front (as always), but I do think they have stumbled onto a really exciting back line after several years of dithering. Players like Barritt are functional and dependable, but Joseph has been something of a revelation and may well have sealed his place for the World Cup. Englands preparations are coming along nicely and they enter the next phase of the tournament in good shape and rightfully confident. I think they beat France and Scotland, with the championship crunch match against Ireland. I'd have England as slight favourites but home advantage for Ireland this year really does make a big difference.

Ireland came through a really physical encounter with France but have picked up a couple of injuries. This was a tough arm wrestle, but it's a sign of Irish maturity that they can come through these tight matches without too much drama. The return of Johnny Sexton is much needed as he is the engine of the team and they do depend on his decision making. I think whoever wins their match against England will be champions this year.

France have been disappointing, sacrificing their traditional skill and élan on the altar of crash-bang-wallop power. Silky runners like Fofana and Thomas aren't being used, with the team depending on the massive Bastaraud to make minute gain line wins. Such a shame. France have the players, the money, and the league quality to be the major power in the 6N but thir coaches seem intent on ruining them as a team. Still, I believe France finish third or fourth, and I do think they will have a big say on who wins the tournament as they are a potential banana skin for England.

After a decade as the preeminent northern hemisphere team (3 Grand Slams, a Chamionship and the majority of the victorious Lions), Wales look like a team in decline ....l or at least standing still. Their game works when they win gain line collisions, but falls apart when they don't, or if they are penned back by a good kicking game. The End of the World Cup will see a mass changing of the guard, but Gatland has little option but to stick with this squad for the next nine months. Wales do not have the numbers, or the strength in depth of the other nations. The Ireland game, in Wales, should be a big big test of Irish credentials.

Scotland are most definitely improving. A strange game against Wales ..... The Welsh had most of the possessin and territory, but the Scots somehow seemed to create more chances. The game was lost because Wales were much more clinical. A poor ref, to be fair, but his decisions did almost completely cancel themselves out. They are desperate for a win and it would be a shame for them to be contesting the Wooden Spoon with Italy. I think Cotter and his team deserve a result against Someone ....l just glad it wasn't against Wales!!

Italy are really limited, with the exception of the magnificent Sergio Parisse. He would be recognised as an all time great if he wasn't playing in a poor Italy team! They were torn apart against England, but still managed to score three tries against a mean defence. They are the French bogey team, so I can see them causing problems against them .... And I also can see them upsetting someone else!!

    Roll on 2 weeks!
