CANELO ALVAREZ wants a super-fight with light-heavyweight Artur Beterbiev - boxing's only champion with a 100 per cent knockout ratio.

The Mexican superstar is in talks for an undisputed super-middleweight title decider with American Caleb Plant.

If successful, he would have cleaned out the 168lb division and the four belts that come with it.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed Canelo could then eye a move back to light-heavyweight, where he won the WBO belt in 2019.

And he will target the most feared puncher of them all, Russian Beterbiev, 36, who has 16 straight KOs, or Dmitry Bivol, 30, who has the WBA crown.

Hearn told Little Giant Boxing: “Canelo Alvarez is the absolute pound-for-pound king.

"He has the right to fight whoever he wants. But, the good news is, he is fighting champion after champion after champion.

“So you don’t have to worry about Saul, he’ll fight anyone.

"Maybe after this he will go to light heavyweight and he may fight Beterbiev and he might fight Bivol. He doesn’t care."

Canelo, 30, moved up to the 175lb, light-heavy mark two years ago when he knocked out Sergey Kovalev, 38, in round 11.

But he later vacated the title to move back down to super-middleweight, where he has since won the WBA, WBC and WBO belts.

Only 29-year-old Plant's IBF strap is missing in Canelo's quest to become undisputed king.

The pair are now in talks to fight in September in Las Vegas.

If Alvarez fights Beterbiev next his moronic haters will say he ducked Plant

Anyone who believes Canelo will actually fight Beterbiev under equal conditions... I've got some beachfront property in Nebraska I'd like to sell ya.
What unfair conditions were Saunders and Smith forced to fight under?

Rotton Apple, can you explain the power and damage caused by Canelo recently against these bigger opponents?

What unfair conditions were Saunders and Smith forced to fight under?

I didn't say "fair". I said "equal". Learn to read.

Next... Smith? None. Smith totally underwhelmed. Wasn't so much that Canelo was that good... but that Smith performed so "shit-ily".

Saunders? See @Master 's question. A former light welter... who caves in Saunders' face with one punch. At super middleweight! Hell... if you don't think that's strange then we got nothing more to talk about.
Except the fact that the Red-Headed Diva gets to pick his own custom-made gloves.

Why limit your question to Smith and Saunders, however?
Afraid to delve into the career full of catchweights, bought judges, "homecourt advantage", cherry picking, marinating, and every advantage known to man, afforded by the WBC (aka... Mexican Mafia)??

Now go back and reread my answer on Smith. Got it? I said "no unfair conditions", although I never said "fair", only "equal."

IF and when Canelo ever faces Beterbiev at his peak... before his expiration date... without moronic catchweights... maybe even in a "neutral" place like MSG... and without judges in his pocket... he'll get his just due.

Meanwhile... the offer for the Nebraska beachfront property is still open.

    Interested?

Canelo Alvarez’s coach opens door to fighting Errol Spence Jr, Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez after Caleb Plant

CANELO ALVAREZ'S coach has opened the door to fighting Errol Spence Jr, Jermall Charlo and David Benavidez after Caleb Plant.

The Mexican superstar is in talks for a September super-middleweight undisputed title decider with American Caleb Plant.

Plant, 28, holds the IBF strap missing from Canelo's unified collection, having recently added the WBO belt after beating Billy Joe Saunders, 31.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed the four-division champion could soon move back up to light-heavyweight to face Artur Beterbiev, 36.

But Canelo's trainer Eddy Reynoso welcomed into the mix welterweight star Spence, middleweight champ Charlo or super-middle contender Benavidez.

Reynoso told Little Giant Boxing: “We're ready. Let's negotiate.

"We’re ready to fight Charlo, with whoever. I think it would be a great and interesting fight

“More than anything is to begin negotiations with Plant's people, with his promoter and come to an agreement.

“An important fight and then see what's next. I like the Charlo fight, Spence if he moves up, Benavidez also.”

Unbeaten Spence, 30, has talked up fighting Canelo before, but would need to jump THREE divisions from welterweight.

Benavidez, 24, formerly held the WBC title Alvarez now holds but lost it in 2020 for missing weight.

He has recently called to face middleweight Charlo, 31, with the winner getting a shot at Canelo.

But the American, twin brother to Jermell, is ready to challenge boxing's pound-for-pound No1 now, having just beaten Juan Macias Montiel, 27.

Reynoso said: “It was a very good fight.

“I have known Montiel since he started his career and I've always thought he was a great fighter.

"He needed a little more to win the fight. But I think he's at the level where he can become a world champion.”

From a former light middleweight going up the weights and causing that much damage, yes.

you say former light middleweight. so does that mean you consider canelo a full fledged super middleweight now?

Canelo is not going down to light middleweight, so he is a supermiddleweight. I stated former because he was never that devastating a puncher at his earlier weight. The damage he is doing now against the bigger opponents is unnatural.

Callum was always a big super middleweight that waited too long just for the final pay day. BJS is probably a better middleweight.

Anyway back to the power. How is he doing it?

I don't think there's much mystery around alvarez at all, he seems to use legal harder gloves and he's got pretty good technique on his punches, he's clearly bulked up a fair bit(and failed a drug test for clenbuterol )... He's just a bigger guy these days that punches well.
