He's not retiring - he's planning on fighting before the year is over.
He has nothing to prove, but he's still an elite, A+ fighter, so hopefully he can end his career on a high note.
No idea. Hopefully they give him a soft tune-up fight before he jumps back into the deep end. Who knows how this injury and back to back losses are going to effect him as a fighter.
Last time I've heard about him, he was saying that he can't wait to train again. My guess is that he won't retire and, good or bad, will try to hit the octogon whenever his leg's ready.

That's the way it is, not the way it ends
I know they say the bone always grows back stronger but that injury has to make him a bit gunshy about throwing that kick again.
If that happened to me I would never be able to throw a kick for as long as I lived haha.
And this guy is supposed to be some legend of UFC? Lol I never payed attention but the last two times I watched him he's a joke.
Imagine Floyd or pac getting taken out like that by some unknown..
That unknown is still unbeaten and has a great future..
It's hard to compare boxers and UFC fighters because UFC fighters don't have the luxury of picking and choosing their fights. A boxer's management can pick and choose and turn down any fight they think is disadventageous to their client.
In the UFC, there's one matchmaker, who's only objective is to make great fights that the fans want to see. He could give a fuck less if a fight is disadventageous to you.
To put it into context, Weidman is a beast who - if MMA was like boxing - would have been the guy that none of the top guys would have touched with a ten foot pole. The lesser known guy who is a huge risk with little reward (think: Golovkin until recently, Paul Williams, ect). Unlike Floyd Mayweather, Anderson doesn't get to say "no I don't want that guy, give me the easier guy who will make me more money." He had to fight every killer they put in front of him. So for him to go undefeated over a 7 year period is nothing short of legendary.
Weidman might be the next big thing...
If he beats Machida's ass, then he might be looking at a LOOOOONG title reign.
I'm not a huge mma fan but gotta respect what Silva has donne especially at his age. Gonna be tough for him to throw those kicks after the injury though.
