THat 's just exactly my case
I am returning to amateur boxing after a pause
I was about 82 kg and fat, now I dropped someweight, got muscles, but because of belly fat I am still about 77 kg. If I prepare for a fight, I think I can make it now at 75 maybe. I plan to drop to 72 or even 69.

I decided not to cut on weight too much, but change the boxing style. Younger I boxed as a classical orthodox with people of my height and reach more or less at 60-64 kg weight category. Now I will be fighting taller guys with longer reach, much lighter on their feet than me. I decided to adopt peak-a-boe style as best as I can.

THis is my best advice I can give you: do not cut on weight too much, so you feel uncomfortable, pay attention to the technique and style.

It's hard to say because everybody is different. Just keep working out and I think you'll figure it out eventually when you feel comfortable with your fitness, speed and power.

It's probably better to get there slowly rather than cutting a bunch of weight to a target just cos someone told you so. Get your bodyfat low, your muscle and power up, your fitness to last for whatever grade of fights you have and your body will tell you when you reach the right weight.
