He was right. But it was Arum that made this boo-boo. The card was sorta shit. He could have put up better fighters that night, but at the end of the day, we do want guys who normally don't have a chance to shine to actually shine.
Arum is experimenting now with new and unknown talent. Arum will bring the East to the West- from China, back to the Philippines and I feel he will find other South East Asian fighters real soon.
Arum sees the benefits in bringing in new and unheard of talent. Like Manny, hardly anyone knew who the hell he was when he blasted Eliecer Juilio, let alone Ledwaba and Sanchez.... even though the latter two were championship fights and Ledwaba was his first title.
Bigger man George, bigger punch!

All things considered it was a peculiar choice for a co main considering how impressive the crowd was who filled a seat. But you'd be hard pressed to feature a local talent because you can count the past and present big name stars locally on one hand..after a run in with a band saw. So you plop down one poorly promoted and almost stagnant kid from Russia, and a complete unknown from Venezuela and ask boxing novice locals to be patient. Fat chance. Had it been a neutral venue or such it wouldn't have been a big deal.
Hard to blame him PAC has a strong loyal following. Despite their lack of boxing knowledge. It would be crazy if the Philippines generated more champions of merit. Probably the principle reason they nut hug Pacquiao so much no lateral fighter to move over to. Mexican boxing fans have had to choose over fighter options and generally by region or style.
Arum needs to find the next Chinese Pacquiao think of all that money potential.

Roy Jones speaks the truth. HBO has gone to seed in terms of commentary too. Lampley should be put to rest now as he is just annoying. He sees phantom things constantly, so I sense he has some kind of sensory impairment.
I've watched boxing, MMA, kickboxing, ect for well over 10 years and I can honestly say Jim Lampley is the ABSOLUTE WORST at distinguishing what strike lands and what strike doesn't. The absolute WORST, which is strange considering how long he's been watching boxing and how much he's paid for the privilege to do so.
I like him as a commentator because I think he's interesting and puts genuine emotion into the broadcasts, but boy does it piss me off when a guy throws a bunch of punches that miss or are blocked and Lampley starts screaming "AND A BIG COMBINATION FROM (FIGHTER X)!!!"
He's not blind or ignorant, Jim isn't. He has an agenda. And if he has to lie and announce phantom punches to further that agenda and cash cow fighter then he will do so with great enthusiasm.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Interesting thing for Jones to say about HBO. They paid him 5mil. a fight for guys like Richard frazier.
