My Paypal Acct. Hacked! Some 28,000 Paypal Passwords on loose. Beware Folks.

I just learned my Paypal account had been hacked...but worse, it seems the whole Paypal website had been hacked.

Just few hours back I bought something from eBay and went on through the usual process to pay thru Paypal. But when I logged on to my account, they informed me that my account have been 'restricted' due to suspicious sign-in last Dec. 17th, and they were right 'cause I didn't log-in that time. So I wasn't able to pay immediately and had to go through some simple verification process they prescribed which went like this:

1. Change of password with min. 8 characters which must have uppercase letter and some symbols like *$% etc.;
2. They asked for the full number of my credit card; and
3. They asked me to choose and answer 2 security questions.

But the problem was after finishing them successfully, my account wasn't restored immediately as I had hoped for as they had to be 'evaluated' and so I wasn't able to pay immediately. But good for me after about 5 hours, it was restored (they notified me thru email) and I was able to pay for the eBay item.

I checked around the net and found out that some buttholes have stolen around 28,000 Paypal passwords just last November and apparently they leaked them and obviously mine was one of them. They should be caught and given a good spanking; I think they're just some grown-up brats.

So my advice is before you purchase anything using Paypal, to avoid any trouble, check beforehand your Paypal acct. or look for any official Paypal emails, usually not the one with the address 'Paypal' which I think is fake, but the one with 'service@paypal.com; they will notify you if your account has been compromised and your account restricted.

Poor you mate, never give any information over to anyone online,reputable companies dont ask you to do that via email ever, they have safe areas within their own web site that you are directed to first and you are shown the security they have in place prior to you giving your info.

I have used pay pal and have no problems supporting a Nigerian king provided I can purchase what I want on ebay.

You know Andre, we pinoys have a real good sense of humor. Just before every New Year, they start to sell firecrackers of all sizes, some of them could be lethal. The biggest ones are as big as the biggest pet bottles and they usually come with a name that starts with 'Goodbye' like 'Goodbye bin Laden' or 'Goodbye Gloria' (ex-President) and this year they came up with the name 'Goodbye Pacquiao,' and it's not made in Mexico, it's made here. It's a Chinese superstition, they say the louder the luckier and more prosperous we will be in the coming year and we ended up as poor every year while the local Chinese businessmen who makes them grew more prosperous each year.

We got not much choice here, most overseas stores don't accept locally issued Credit Cards directly, but Paypal is accepted almost universally...

Ya, I've been victim of that on my Yahoo email account couple of times. I thought I was signing-in at the real site but actually it was a fake site, obviously 'seeing' everything I typed. Yahoo came up with a solution though, they use the new 'signature' method, which I hope will work...

Most of our banks charge you if you so much as fart as you walk through their doors.

Bendigo Bank actually helps out with local charities though, they also back local businesses if its practical, I like that a lot.
