Default Why are MMA/UFC fans so preoccupied with the state of boxing?

"Boxing is dying" - Actually, this quote has been echoed for about 15 years at least (long before Mayweather's rise).....yet boxing is still around and making its way back to network TV

"MMA is taking over/Has better all-around athletes"

They seem to have this warped belief that boxing fans are bothered by the increase of popularity of MMA and that boxing is actually competing with them. MMA is doing fine, good for you. It's silly.

Agreed, mma/ufc are a sport unto themselves. They should do what they do and let it at that. I have little to no interest in mma but I don't wish it I'll or failure, just silly to me. UFC needs to worry about itself, there ppv numbers dropped by fifty percent in a year's time according to Forbes magazine.

MMA has taken a lot of boxing's steam over the years. Boxing will always be around and there'll be money to be made, but socially boxing lost it's spot to MMA.

Until 10 years ago the baddest men on the planet was the HW champ and the top name boxers of the day. Now it's the MMA fighter who's the baddest. No matter how good and fearsome a boxer is, the general public knows that an MMA fighter would fuck them up in a one-on-one fight, and that's a status that can never be gained back.

And yes, MMA has much better all-around athletes.

I like and watch boxing and MMA and truthfully I can't remember an MMA fighter or announcer talking about the decline or death of boxing.

Maybe you see this kind of BS on Facebook or Twitter.

The baddest man on the planet, as far as I'm concerned, does not wear boxing or MMA shorts to work.
