Default Why Did Freddie Pendleton Have So Many Losses ?

I've seen a few of his fights and he looked pretty good to me, and he seemed to have some good power. He even gave a prime Pernell Whitaker a good argument, so why did he have so many losses ?

Because he didn't have "world class power"

    I kid, I kid.

I think he just didn't have that elite ability, he was really good but kinda had that Glen Johnson thing where his fights always were close. He was always competitive, he just couldn't take control in fights at the higher levels, I think his chin really failed him towards the end of his career too.
No doubt though he fought everyone he could and I respect that.

First time I saw him fight was against Rafael Ruelas. Pendelton KOed Ruelas repeatedly and looked strong at the beginning but Ruelas catched up to the point of almost having the fight stopped. Ruelas catched up in points until he won the fight against a tired Pendleton.

Beside the phrase mis leading record in the dictionary.....is Freddies picture.Well,in some regards. He could fight. He only had a 1-5 amature record and learned the do's & don'ts in the ring.He fought on short notice quite a bit early on and has faced nice quality foes throughout.Lost some that on paper he should have owned but no question he had some nice power, was pretty shifty and slick but with a spotty chin .

Maybe you mean KD'ed (knock downed)...

Or else Pendleton needed to really knockout Ruelas just to get a draw...

Well early in his career he fought wining opponents meaning they had wining records.
A lot of people don't know this but he beat Tyron Trice early in their careers.... He also sparked out Roger Mayweather early.

Taking fights on short notice and also not being well prepared for fights. I remember reading an article before the Trinindad about him just wanting to travel and earn a living fighting.

He was exciting to watch. As I've often mentioned the Ruelas fight was fucken brilliant... But Ruelas showed lot's of class when he got up off the canvas twice to win the fight. The exchanges were fucken brutal

I also gotta mention the rematch with Bramble which was a bloody mess. Hes fight vs. Lopez was a sea saw battle were both guys hit the canvas. I thought Lopez was in control but Freddie never stopped throwing getting the win.

Alot of it is,he wasnt considered a major prospect coming up,so instead of having his career massaged, he was thrown in as a punching bag with guys he wasnt really ready for.
By the time he'd learned his trade in the ring, his chin got spotty

What he did to Uncle Roger was nasty.Never ever judge a guy by a spotty record alone

Poor management. He was as good as anyone though.
