    Default How to make money?

Serious question, folks: Have you ever put any thought into how to make money? Or at the very least generate considerably more earning power and revenue than you currently are?

What are some of the ideas you have that could shed some light on things. Or, what are you doing now that we can help with guiding you to better earning power?

Right now, for me, I have a public relations company. Not sure how to go about getting clients. I also have an online magazine, its new so I don't charge subscriptions. I do, however, run two contests- a short story contest and a poetry contest- that is a pay to enter contest. I am in my third year running both, but it has not been as lucrative as I thought it would be. I thought I would have been getting at least 300 entrants- at least 300 entrants.

The contests are geared towards Caribbean and Central American people of their respective diaspora's- meaning, they could be living in the UK, US or Canada and still apply once the can prove their lineage to the region. So far, they have not been yielding as much revenue as I envisioned. What am I doing wrong?

I also run a music competition that I raise money from sponsors for. Other than that, what else can my measly little PR company do? How do I take advantage of the information superhighway and make more money?

My mind is open to suggestions and comments.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere perfect to post this and I can't be bothered to start a thread but if anybody out there is thinking about going to college to do a degree in something like law or accountancy or similar then maybe think about becoming a plumber or an electrician. Something that involves working with your hands:

The first twitter message has been half deleted but it was saying that one of these AI bots can now get a hundred percent on MIT entrance exams.

Pretty soon there are going to be computers doing infinite amounts of legal, accounting and similar work for free around the clock. Maybe a few years, maybe a decade but it's coming and it's going to devastate the white collar economy.

Absolutely 100% true. I think we were so a barrel of crap in the 1980s and the 1990s about going to college. I went and got my bachelor's degree from Rutgers and then I went and got my masters degree from Thunderbird, and no matter how many resumes I sent out or how much networking I tried to do, I could not find a good connection with a Fortune 500 company in which I can start to earn $75,000 per year end up. I was confined to clerical jobs at anywhere from 12 to 15 dollars an hour from 1990 all the way through until 2007. When you have to pay your rent every month and you live in an expensive place like New York City, you don't have time to really do a lot of career shifting or go back to school. Nobody is there to help you and you just struggle through and grind and trudge through with these low paying menial clerical jobs.

Much better to learn to be an electrician or a welder or a plumber or things like that. Even a CDL license and be a truck driver. Nowadays I'm not sure but back then you would make a killing and you could retire by now. But what about mechanic? You could be a diesel mechanic or airplane mechanic. You can even go to police academy and become a police officer and a cushy little Anglo-Saxon town with no crime in northern New Jersey like in Bergen county, and they started you out with about 75,000 per year and after 20 years you retire with a full pension at the age of let's say 38.

I guess University used to lead to good jobs back in the 1940s and 1950s and 1960s and even 1970s, but unless you're going for something really specific and lucrative like ceramic engineering or petroleum engineering, or you're going to law school, you should pretty much forget about University. It would be much better if you simply started buying and selling houses when you were 21 years old.

That's something to put my brain around. But I often ponder on what successful people really do to make money? Like, what DO they do? I think about it often...

It sounds like you've got a few different things going on with your public relations company and online magazine.
As for getting clients for your PR company, have you tried networking with other professionals in your industry? Attending events and conferences, or even just reaching out to people on LinkedIn, could potentially lead to new clients. If you find some potential prospects, you can even check their credibility using some online resources like https://illinois.recordspage.org/ (if they're from Illinois) to check their employment history and how they could help you in your projects. You could also consider offering a discount or referral bonus to current clients who refer new business to you.

So I've been studying the holy scriptures, especially the 36 chambers and The W and what I've learned is, "cash rules everything around me" and "scared money don't make money"... Other well paying jobs appear to be selling "trees", this could refer to selling Christmas trees? And as it's not Christmas now maybe you could stick up on them while they're cheap and sell for a massive profit! Hits for high stakes is another recommendation from the book of Wu, so maybe a pop career? Inspecting decks soon NDS popular too, lots of people have those attached to the house now. There are many more suggestions that can be found in the teachings of the clan so hopefully it all works out!

Late in the game maybe to master a trade. But my advice to anyone with ears and something I learned early on...master a trade. A craft, a skill. Matter of fact learn two...or three. The last time I punched and answered to a time clock fulltime was line cook and kitchen back in 1995. I loved working in restaurants but learned quick unless I'm full invested in franchise or starting my own it was not for long term. Fun lifestyle but it catches up. What we're really missing now are the vo tech courses that were commonplace thru HS and trade school options for kids coming up. We were taking metal shop, wood working, drafting and auto body in early jr high ffs. Not everyone can nor should they invest all or "go" to college tbh. As a wise man once said, get in where you fit in fool . Hustle young man hustle. But whatever you do don't reduce to selling oranges on the corner. Or selling Pokeman cards.

The time has passed for me to learn a trade. I'm in law school now plus I work with a full on business and learning a trade is not in the cards...

You could ride the crypto wave and invest wisely, or maybe dive into the world of NFTs if you're into artsy stuff. Online businesses and gigs are still booming, so consider hustling in that direction.

Well ever think about taking up table dealer at a high end casino or such. Heard they bring in big bucks and perks from a buddy working out in Reno. At least you'll have more 'cards' anyway . Keep driving, you'll find other avenues.

Back in the day, selling things on street corners was a good hustle. My friend sold pictures- anything from pictures the size of a sheet of paper to full size, hang on the wall pictures- and made a ton of money. If you get a good spot, 1000 or more on a weekday was very easy and you could increase that by 50% on weekends.
The sunglass hustle was good, too. Back then, early 90s, I could get knock off Raybans for $1, then the "authentic" sticker for 25 cents and the "authentic" case for 50 cents. I knew a stripper that was looking for a career change and she and her girlfriend, if you gave them a half gram of "that", would put the stickers on the glasses, etc... Then she'd put on short shorts and a bikini top and sell some glasses. Sell them all day at $20 each.
Money is the easiest thing in the world if you prioritize the acquisition of it ahead of your fears, doubts and scruples.
