Yeah, quality band in their pomp. I'm surprised to see a re-release of Exile on Main street get to number 1 though. Exile on Main Street is a quality album and deserves a lot of respect, but strange how it has caught on in 2010. Has there been a lot of publicity for it or something? Even if so, I still find it a bit weird. Happy is probably one of the weaker tracks on it IMO.
Away from EOMS, I love Gimme Shelter. Brilliant track.
Yeh Exile getting to number 1 was impressive. I don't think there were any other major releases that week though.

How about expanding this thread? What about some Rolling Stones top 5 albums/tracks?

Damn, I have been called away for dinner. I will add a list later on.
1. Sticky Fingers
2. Exile on Main Street
3. Beggars Banquet
4. Let it bleed
5. Aftermath
That's my list. Exile on Main Street and Sticky Fingers are The Stones at their peak for me. Some really stong mid to late 60's albums too. The Stones albums after Sticky Fingers aren't that bad, but a case of repeating the formula with diminishing returns for me. A lot of strong tracks all through their career though. Stay away from their solo albums.

Good music is good music. It doesn't matter what generation it is from. I discovered David Bowie and The Beatles in my Dad's record collection growing up, but that didn't stop me liking bands like Pulp and Suede who were more contemporary. Like I say, good music is simply good music. You should give some of those quality stones albums a try, you would probably like them.
Im sure i would, ill start listening

A couple of my favorite Stones songs
AC/DC is good and all but they were a bit of a one trick pony, the Stones had more depth in their talent and music in general.
