Not many fighters are exciting once they hit 40
I've never found Hopkins that exciting.
Maybe if he took me for a meal and wooed me, I'd be able to get in the mood.
I think you would be suprised mate if you watch some of his early fights.Originally Posted by bzkfn

It's difficult to keep the pace Hopkins of old had at 40.
For me Hopkins was a thrilling fighter up until the Trinidad fight.
Even his fights with Taylor had their moments, but there were long waits between those moments. With hindsight, it is apparent that Taylor seldom makes an entertaining fight anyway.
B-Hop has nothing to prove though and I just wish he would retire. He wont though.
Exactly. You can always tell by reading some people's posts about Hopkins whether or not the Tito fight was the first one they ever saw.Originally Posted by miles
He used to be a very exciting fighter, look at the Glen Johnson fight, even the Echols fights, really most of his fights before he got old. You just can't fight like that at 42, just not possible. Not even looking at the Taylor fights, look at how cautious he was versus Howard Eastman, he was cautious even against ODLH. Even though I'm still a fan, I don't see how he could be described as an exciting fighter now. His skills, and even his athletic ability are amazing considering how old he is, but I definitely don't think of him as an exciting fighter anymore.
thas y i think hopkins was in his prime wen he fought jones, he may not have been as exprinced but he was defintly in his physical prime, mayb not mental, but i think the more actice hopkins had a bigger chacne against jones
The one Echols fight was one of the most unbelievable things Ive ever seen in the ringOriginally Posted by OumaFan
