Default Bad Show From Samuel Peters

Well there we go.....what a big let down that was. At the time i thought Peters was getting back into the fight....I was thinking maybe Vitali is getting a little tired now and Peters will some how get Vitali outta there with a desperation last gasp knock out punch. It never happened and Peters will go down in boxing History has only the second champion to quit in his corner. The other champ was Liston when he quit against Ali with a damaged shoulder.

Sadly for Peters that will be the only comparison he has with Liston.

I wonder if Peters can now be added to a list of champions who looked for a way out when the situation got a little too rough. I can mention a few -

    Tyson vs Holyfield II
    Douglas v Holyfield
    Liston v Ali I

It was Vitali fighting him and not Wlad, Wlad already beat him.

Well he could have taken more punishment and have Vitali retire him. It wasn't Sam Peter's night and now he lives to fight again, he's going to be a contender and that's about it

I knew he was not that good shortly after the McCline fight

As ive already said in another thread Vitali to make history being the only Heavyweight to comeback straight into a world title fight and win and then to for him and his brother to be the only brothers to be Heavyweight champ at same time. The big entrance all the former champs saying Vitali you can do it then Peter quits on his stool then after there all smiles shaking hands and stuff baring in mind Sam Peter is meant to hate these brothers. He never tried to win and Vitali never tried to knock him out really. Peter fought 2 fights with a slick fighter like Toney and keeps his head and wins both fights yet against a one dimensional fighter in comparison to Toney he loses his head and quits. All i could think is FIX!! even when he heard the scores and quit and his corner is saying to Peter what what it all looked a bit wooden to me proper crap acting.

Get out your foil hats a Haye fan smells conspiracy

Vitali IS that good...and Sam Peter isn't what everyone once thought he was, much like Audley Harrison and soon to be David Haye

If Wlad could just aout beat Sam Peters with his glass jaw then vatali had to have a good chance because he is the much better overall fighter.

What made this fight interesting was what did VK have left and would his body hold up.

It was not the war that some were expecting but I enjoyed the show on Saturday night.

The fight reminded me a bit of the Calazaghe-lacy fight where one fighter was much better than we thought and the other perhaps not as good.

Yeah....look Sam Peter knew what was coming, he knew he got rocked by Jameel McCline, he couldn't have gone into this fight with much confidence to begin with and then to have the first round go like it did, I'm sure that snowballed and became more and more disconcerting and hell I know I wouldn't want to stand in there and get beaten up all night when you know you can't hurt the other guy.

And he wouldn't be the first Nigerian fighter to go totally apeshit crazy either.

Peters was plain awful. The lack of desire he showed was disgusting. He didn't even give a mere OK account of himself. Let's not forget he's a quitter.

So far only Timo Hoffman was able to last the distance with Vitali so I wouldn't give Sam too hard of a time. He WAS getting his ass kicked. He'll come back, he'll never be as good, but he'll be a GREAT matchup for either Arreola or Haye or whoever else steps up.

Sam wasted our time, it's one thing to loose another to not even show up for a fight this big and after all the shit he talked, why these guys continue to take the "miranda" route and focus on people they aren't fighting still amazes me A. abraham looks to be following suite talking about fighting pavlik when he can't even get out of bed long enough to fight marquez........taylor probably see's all this and just shakes his head.

Samuel was embarrassing and he should be ashamed of that performance. Vitali was very good but Peter was just inept.

I think Peter didn't know what he was taking on before the fight in terms of the hostile German fans, the over the top ring entrance etc & by the time the fight had started he'd already lost the fight!
