Default Cotto v Trout post fight analysis, comments etc.

Cotto after the fight said he would "probably" still fight on. I don't think he should. I feel he has nothing left to prove and his professional record is remarkable.

Trout is slick no doubt (sorry had to do it haha), but tonight I saw Cotto look alil slower than usual and also imo a little heavier and alil out of shape. Is this because he may have overlooked Trout or underestimated him during training camp, I'm not sure. I think though that the wars and father time have caught up to Cotto and he probably should hang up the gloves. As I said earlier he has nothing left to prove in the ring, he is a gentleman outside of it, got a great family and I'm sure he's made more than enough $$$ in the game. I also can't see an opponent worth his while...

Cotto felt he had won the fight, I can see how some could think the score cards could have been a lot closer, but also agreed to an extent with the final scores as I had Cotto only really clearly winning 2-4 rounds.

Neway guys Just my thoughts, love to hear all yours, you can post anything and everything post fight. Score cards, winner/loser, Trout/Cotto etc.

Cotto should retire. But he didn't take a big enoough beating to convince himself of it. He will if he fights Alvarez

Love Miguel Cotto. That guy has given us everything and fought pretty much everyone you would want him too. I think if he quit now he'd leave with dignity but we all know how difficult it is for a boxer to hang em up.

I haven't read through the whole thread, but I agree that Cotto should retire. He gave it his best shot, but his punches weren't doing much to Trout. Cotto's face looked like hell after the fight. Also, Cotto's words sound like someone who's already got one foot out the door. He's got a wonderful family... and what man wouldn't want to spend time with that? I still think Cotto, for his size, did as much as he could at 154. That is not his best weight. That he won any championships at all at that weight is astounding. But Trout was younger, bigger, faster. I had a pretty good crowd over at the house watching the fight, and we got quieter and quieter as the fight went along. After 7-8 rounds... you sort of know where the fight is going.

On a happier note, I was ecstatic at seeing some good Puerto Rican prospects put in some very good efforts. Young blood coming up. That's what the sport's all about.

Really thought the scoring was atrocious by the judges especially the always dismal Adelayde Byrd...11-1

Had it a draw myself, but could see 7-5 Trout.

Cotto's face swells up easy these days much like Judah's, but a lot of Trout's punches were partially blocked or missed.

Cotto def won a good 5 rounds, but looked tired down the stretch.

Trout showed good skills a smart gameplan and a good chin as well.

Cotto might need to think about retirement or working on that stamina, he was not in the kind of shape he was in for the Floyd fight.

About the same time Al Bernstein and Paulie Malinaggi became Puerto Rican.

I knew Al had that sort of Latin look to him.

The scorecards were too wide, it was a close fight with Trout finishing stronger.

COMPLETE COTTO – TROUT UNDERCARD RESULTS FROM NEW YORK

I was able to see most of the undercard and was thrilled to see some of our good local prospects win their respective fights. Jeffrey Fontanez looked fantastic, and so did Jayson Velez. Exciting times ahead for P.R. boxing. Cotto looks to be on the way out, after a wonderful, HOF career. But that's boxing.... new blood coming in to replace the old blood.

    I saw Cotto losing 116-112.

I just saw the last 4 rounds but I don't think I gave any of those to cotto. I don't think he should retire because trout did look a lot bigger then him in there and I think that had a really big thing to do with it. Cotto would still give Canelo a good fight and probably win I think. He should stick to fighting small 154 lb guys or just drop to 147 again and quit bitching. But what he really needs to do is start staying for his after fight interviews because that shit really pisses me that he acts like a little cry baby cuz he got beat.

Don't think it was even remotely close and a draw is streeeeeetching it personally had it 10-2 trout so 117-111 was spot on imo. Not sure that ya can say cotto is done since he just recently gave mayweather a hell of a fight, maybe trouts just that good...who knows I'm drunk but the fight was not rremotely close imo

You are missing the point of this fight , Cotto was never going to win , here is why.
Cotto looked fit , but TROUT is a better swimmer than him , its all in the name TROUT ,
Cotto didnt have a chance based on the swimming ability of TROUT.

re-watching fight. Trout looked much much bigger than Cotto. Cotto got stung in the first round. He's too small to hang in this division? Too big to drop down? I always feel with Cotto that he lost out against all the big names by not being the smartest guy in the ring.
