He should of had some career defining fights by now!! You cant wait till the last 3 fights of your career to try to have career defining fights, how does that define your career if it is at the end of it. He should have been having them since he first won a title.

I always fancied seeing him fight Herol i thought he could have frusrated the hell out of Calzaghe as long as Calzaghe did'nt catch him clean

Anybody that was around SMW at the time. You cant tell me he sought out the best out there to fight! He has barely fought outside his home. The only places he has fought after he won the belt(s) is England, Whales, Scotland (once), and Germany (once). He hasnt exactly traveled the globe looking for competition.

No, its not all his fault that he hasnt fought anybody. But I hope that he has some pull with his promoter about who he faces. There is all of this talk about he WAS suppose to face Bhop, RJJ, but the fights didnt happen for one reason or another. I cant imagine that Bhop and RJJ were the only name fighters around SMW that he could have faced. I just dont think Joe C. tried hard enough to get the fights he should of had.

With all the ex-champs and cannon fodder served up by Fwank over the years, it's hard to tell really how good Joe Calzaghe is.

Fwank's main recipe is to serve up opponents who his fighter's will beat - it is an art that he has mastered, introducing fighters with just enough credibility and just that step too far over the hilll to give Joe any true problems.

The king pins in and around his division used to be Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins etc - whom he never ever fought for whatever reasons (i do not care for excuses in either direction).

The only true threat (on paper at least) was Jeff Lacy - and Joe rose to the occasion.... but then the B-class fighter Tsypko outpointed Lacy (abeit for a bit of good 'ol home cooking) and shown him up for what he really was - a man who was sparked by Brian Magee as an amatuer!

Prior to Lacy, Calzaghe was feasting on light-middle weights and bums - like Evan's Ashira.

He ducked a genuine unbeaten prospect in Robert Stieglitz and fought former middleweight Sakio of Shitto instead - a tough as teak and just as wooden (ability wise) fighter handpicked by Fwank.

And now is dining out on the hobbit that is Peter Manfredo:-

Does anyone really think tiny Peter will put on a clinic and KO calzaghe? a guy who lost to welterweight in the show that brought him 'Fame' ?

And now Joe is chasing OAP Hopkins and will expect plaudits for the occaision?

Yet avoids Froch (offers him a paltry £60K to claim its Froch not signing up - another Fwank masterstroke) and publicly anounces to his fans through the very website that TeamCalzaghe are here to promote that 'Mikkel Kessler' wont happen - as the States dont know him.... like Joe is known there himself!!

Sorry Team Calzaghe - you man is a puppet (a talented puppet i concede) who is not concerned with unfiying a division but continuing the trend for fighting over-the-hill people he should of fought years ago - instead of fighting the real dangermen like Froch & Kessler.

Cheers Tybuff - perhaps it appears that i hate Joe Calzaghe, quite the opposite.

I think he is as dull as dishwater as a fella (after the dross documentary) but can be very excitingin the ring.

But to be blunt, i do not care for the TeamCalzaghe propaganda - here on Saddo's we know the score - that the real fights, Froch / Kessler etc could be made in double-quick time with fair negotiating as they have publicly aired their desire to fight him - but Art Palle, Kessler's promoter lifted the lid on how Fwank avoided his calls the make the Kessler fight - prompting the public message about 'Kessler not famous enough' to avoid the fact that Joe just didn't want to get beat up.

Stylistically, Froch would be the stiffer test - plus the domestic interest would be massive - but Fwank would only make the fight if Froch defected from the Hennessey camp and then and only then, after numerous undercards against 'easy opposition' would the Cobra maybe get a shot.

When this was turned down on Froch's allegiance to Hennessey - the paltry 60K offer was made.
