Nogs is one the last true submission fighters. It is a testament to his BJJ and toughness that he has been so successfull. The guys hasn't lost to anyone but Fedor in years(he avenged his loss to barnett). He is a tall order for any fighter and top 5 P4P in my book.

I have nog as a top 3 heavyweight in the world. Fedor as number 1 and nog and Mirko battle for number 2 spot

As good as his BJJ, it's his incredible chin that has allowed him to utilize it so successfully. This guy's chin is EASILY up there with Hunt's. He takes such a hardcore beating and it's like he was walking a couple of cute little puppy dogs in the park.

And to answer the question, he'd do pretty damned good, but I'm not too sure he could beat Randy or Tim.
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?

well, by deductive reasoning.... AA beat Werdum and Werdum gave Nog a HELL of a fight and Tim beat AA twice. Do the math. don't under-estimate AA and Tim and RC.

I don't think this reasoning really works that well in MMA. The A fighter beat B fighter who beat C fighter therefore A fighter is better than C fighter doesn't hold up that well. All of those matchups are intriguing but I dont think its that cut and dry. AA can probably beat just about anyone if the right AA shows up, but he is very inconsistant. W/O the ten minute round and the more frequent standups in UFC combined with AA's sambo background I could see him winning another boring UD over Nog but I wouldn't put money on it. Tim is a decent striker who just happens to be huge and use the size advantage very well. Mir, AA, and Randy have all showed that he can be taken out of his game though. I'd pick Nogs to do the same. Nogs versus Randy is pretty interesting. I think its pretty much a pickem fight

I'm not saying it's airtight, Van, in fact, I'm kinda saying what you're saying. Don't rule anything out. With 4 measely oz gloves, anyone can beat anyone on any given day.
